We're planning a week in Szilvasvarad probably returning home mid-September.
Probably a silly question ....... Will restaurants and any eating places still be open?
My Hungarian wife assures me they are open all year.

Afraid I can't help you but you're right to check!
Some years ago we got caught out, mid September when we stayed on a hotel boat to find out that the restaurant was closed as out of season - doubly inconvenient as we had arranged to entertain friends at dinner. Mind you, we discovered later that it was owned by Russians.

I'm not saying they'll all be open but there will certainly be a selection that will be.
If you get stuck for something to do, there's a nice little restaurant down the road, next to the lake in Bélapátfalva and plenty of place to walk dogs.

Thanks. We're gonna go ahead. Worse case scenario I'll be happy with beans on toast.

There is what looks to be a fairly comprehensive tourist information web site for Szilvasvarad, with information about restaurants and things to see and do, including the scenic railway. The time table for the trains shows services into December (a Santa special), though reduced after the end of October, but some services all through the winter subject to weather, so I'd be fairly comfortable assuming at least some of the restaurants will be open at least until the Santa special ends.
