Rules re Residential Areas
#1
I was wondering if there are any rules on 'residential areas' in Hungarian towns, such as there are in the UK re noise levels etc. For example, can you set up a commercial business in a residential area? I am assuming this is a question for the local mayor's office, but would appreciate any other posters experiences.
Many thanks

In my village, there is no using lawn mowers on the weekend, and outdoor noise is to be reduced after a certain time. Each area is going to have its own unique by laws, and better to find out from the town council to be on the safe side.

I don't see there being a problem with a commercial business in a residential area as I know of numerous villages with houses operating as garages, hairdressers, reclamation yards etc. All are within residential streets.

Thanks, actually this is why I was asking. We have an extremely noisy neighbour, but fortunately he is not around all of the time. But when he is here, he doesnt mind sawing copious amounts of wood whenever it pleases him and generally makes a noise and a mess. Sounds trivial I know, until you live next door to one

Ha ha
He says he is an Art Sculptor... but he is more like a rag and bone man with extreme wood sawing ways

Firstly, you can not complain about a Hungarian man and his wood chopping - that's sacrilegious and the fact that he is "an artist" and obviously continuing a long held tradition of Hungarian "naive" or "folk" wood art - well, you will be deemed nothing but a heathen who can not appreciate tradition and culture

No, not a blind bit of difference - old alliances and all that - an Austrian trumps a Brit any day of the week

last time we visited ours, the neighbour sounded like the chain saw masacre, I think he has approx 3 tons of wood stored so far (apparently does not sell it) and with the dogs barking at us it was bliss for a while

Don't expect the quiet life when you move to a village in Hungary. Here I get church bells at 5 am, chainsaws, strimmers, tractors, lorries, discos at the pub opposite, noisy motorbikes, noisy quad bikes, loud radio from next door, dogs barking, cockerels crowing, pigs squealing and the alcoholic neighbour has a good rant to nobody in particular, several times a day.
