Purchase Tax

Purchase Tax
We have just received our tax bill connected to the purchase of our property.
I have been through it & with my friend Google translate, believe we have 15 days to pay it?
We would be grateful if anyone can shed some light on this, does that mean from the date of the letter, or today's date when I signed for it with the post man?

Re: Purchase Tax
Deadlines are always from the date you signed for the letter and reply deadlines at the date of posting.

Re: Purchase Tax
Yes 4% is correct but as it is in joint names both of us have to pay 4% each !!!

Re: Purchase Tax
The total liability is 4% of the value of the House. Our flat is 50/50 jointly owned also, so on paper I owed 2% & my wife 2%. The Govt. doesn't care how you arrange it just so long as they receive their 4% - so in time honoured fashion I paid the lot!

Re: Purchase Tax
Must translate some more of it as it does say 4% on each letter but the amount would be about right Need to pay on Tuesday.

Thanks Peter, I did think it would be something like that so I will break with time honoured tradition & I will pay the lot..
