A hungarian friend of mine told me when he was 12 years old his father won on the Hungarian Lottery in 1972 ........ not prize money but a house on a plot in Miskolctapolca. My friend is 63 now so that's 51 years ago! I was never sure if he was telling the truth because I didn't think such things existed in Hungary going that far back but apparently they did exist! See link below. Unfortunately, his father died two years later before he finished renovating the house so his mother, two sisters and himself decided to sell the plot. The plot was split into three smaller plots, one with the house and a big enough garden if a house was built on the two other plots. Obviously, no need for a mortgage for all of them to buy a house elsewhere.
