Default Looking for an electrician.

Is there anyone here who is an electrician or know anyone who is one within the Budapest area?
The guy who manages my property is struggling to find someone reliable. All I need is someone to test the circuit in my apartment and to sign off that the load can sustain electric central heating.
It may even be that the person can get the job of fitting it.

In Hungary you usually need to upgrade the supply to your meter if you want to run electric heating, a fully electric cooker or an electric shower. If you are thinking in terms of storage heaters you will also need a cheap rate meter. You may already have this for hot water but such a supply is unlikely to be rated to also provide heating. Storage heater wiring would be in addition to the existing circuit, so you would only need to know how many amps are available at the meter.

Great guy I used several times, haven't needed him in the last 2 years so don't know his current situation although I imagine he has been as busy as anyone in Budapest.

Thanks expatrick, the main problem is that most of the tradesmen are that busy they dont even want to bother with a small job like this. Ill pass the e-mail onto my guy and see if he can contact him and get this sorted.

A bit late to this party - but as a first instance if you know what you are going to install and therefore you know the current rating needed it is a simple exercise to look at the fuses to see what you have today to see if it is enough.

32A is the standard for the day and the night meters. 32A is about 7300W. put this against what you will need / propose and see if that is enough. If not then it will cost about 5000fts per Amp over the 32, plus any updating of the meter box which will have to be brought up to current standard.

Why would you want an electrician to sign off that the wiring will cope with electric CH? If you have the fuse capacity to cope with the load then that is what the wiring will carry. (The fuses are there to a) limit the load taken from the grid, and b) protect the downstream wiring from overload.

The caveat is that both wiring and fuses get old and if you are going to run old wiring near its limit - especially if it is aluminium then it should be replaced with new. (old fuses are less of a problem because they just nuisance trip before their full load)

The job you need to be asking for is a quote to install the electric CH to the heating standard you want and you might find that getting a quote of a bigger job is easier.
