Like many other businesses, I bet he wouldn't mind paying a small yearly fee/tax to have the airport operating again!
I'm sure you're right, RH.....last time we went, it was with Ryanair with 1 GBP tickets. He has an office in the UK too,and arranges flights and everything....now I think they have to fly to Budapest or Graz, or somewhere! I'd love Balaton Airport to reopen!!! |
Re: Flybalaton
The recent announcement of flights from Germany restarting in the Spring and the mayor of Heviz discussing flights from China and Saudi Arabia suggests that operations at Flybalaton will continue through 2012. Which in itself is good news but who actually holds the lease?
The last news I heard was the press reporting liquidation of FB airport Kft in December and a statement that Zalavár Sármellék Municipality would be working with Heviz to ensure the airport remained open. Has anybody heard more recent news? |

Re: Flybalaton
Well if FB Airport Kft have gone into liquidation, goodness knows who has control of the site as they are the registered owners!

Re: Flybalaton
Well finally it is official, but do they mean it? Ryan Air has made a deal to fly to Hungary again from March 12th 2012, just Budapest for the moment and are advertising offers. One offer said book before midnight Jan 26th. I have tried and tried. All that comes up is that the routes are not in opertion yet!
This was posted last night: The 'world’s favourite airline', or so they claim, yesterday announced at a special press event at the InterContinental Budapest Hotel that it will open 5 new routes from Liszt Ferenc International Airport to Birmingham, Bologna, Bristol, Dublin and London (Stansted Airport) from March 2012. They say this will deliver 200,000 passengers per year, and create up to 200 local jobs at Budapest Airport. Ryanair celebrated its new Budapest routes by releasing 1 million seats, from €9.99, for travel on Tues, Wed and Thurs in late February and early March. These promo fares are available for booking until midnight Thursday (26th Jan). |

This was posted last night: Hopefully this bodes well for Flybalaton: "The MT Co. reorganized by Air Marketing Fund is a great potential for Hungarian airports (Budapest, Sármellék, Debrecen) and can assist them in obtaining new flights." |
