Important information regarding reclaiming property tax
Hello, Will on behalf of HiFX here. I just wanted to post a new thread on this forum to highlight a campaign that HiFX is behind which affects those that have lived in Spain recently.
If you sold a property in Spain between July 2004 and December 2006 then you were overcharged Capital Gains Tax by 133% (you should have been charged 15% CGT but were charged 35% instead). Therefore you could be inline for a rebate!
Last month, the Spanish courts ruled that this was wrong and in fact the first British couple has just been successful in reclaiming their money.
If you think this may have affected you, or friends or family members, we would urge you to speak to your lawyers. A group of Spanish lawyers, who we are working with and would recommend, have set up a website for those you think they may have been affected and would like to know to go about reclaiming their tax money: www.spanishtaxreclaim.co.uk
You are welcome to discuss further on this thread if you have had experience of this.
