I do apologise if you found me rude but five year x visas have no similarity to accompanying spouse visas!

spouse visa is a long term visa x cat that is given to spouses registration is required within 14 days of arrival and allows you to stay upto the validity subject to registration. Many spouses after1 year convert to PIO as allows you to do more.

I think the main visa in question was an employment visa. The rules are specific for this type of visa.

The very title of this thread is causing confusion, as pennlessinindia is referring to someone who marries an Indian, and the response came from someone on an employment visa referring to his accompanying wife.....

The problem is, the "X" visa is a messy solution to cover categories that do not have their own specific visa, as in an accompanying wife.....she is not a tourist, neither does she work - dish out an "X" visa.
You are carrying out voluntary work with an accreditted NGO, so you are not actually employed for gain, nor are you a tourist - dish out an "X" visa.
You have just married an Indian but do not yet qualify for PIO/OCI - dish out an "X" visa.

Due to its all things to all men approach, it is impossible to give a blanket definition of "how to get an X visa and is it easy" because it depends entirely on what purpose it is being granted for....

Seems i missed something here, sorry if i caused confusion, as loathe as i am i agree with J5's comments

My wife does have an "x" visa, this is a yearly one, accompanying me while employed in India (im British.....well Cornish actually)

Oh and there is no length of stay criteria.

Hope thats clear, didnt realise you were referring to a 5 yr X
