It's the piece of string syndrome, and dependant on your standards and requirements.
£500 for thats what it equates to is Heavy, dependent on what you are getting, for that of course.
You could get a one bedroomed flat in Candolim,Nerul, etc. for Rs. 8000 per month or you could pay double for something better.
That would still only take you to £200 per month.
You will be there at the ideal time,i.e before the tourists arrive , to look around, and get the pick of the crop.
I
t may well be with your Panjim work place you look at Dona Paula or Mirimar (both expensive locations).
You'll soon suss the job out,no doubt, and good luck.

When paradiso was being built (about 3 years back) I had called them up to find out the prices etc, they were way above what was prevailing in upmarket goa at that time, so I presume they have good facilities, still 1000 dollars a month is too much. If you want to move out, presuming that you want to be close to the offshore casino, you can try either Miramar area in Panjim (across the river from betim) - close to the beach and still not too far away from the river mandovi where the casino is anchored - or if you want something cheaper you could try Porvorim which is on the same side of the river as betim, a little further away. Porvorim is a residential area not touristy and the rents there would be lower than Miramar. Hope that helps.

You should be OK at that, asthe peak season is just starting as you are leaving.Somewhere in Arpora would be good for Mapusa,on the bus route and only 10 minutes by bike or taxi.
