Re: Visa help.

Surely this has to be yet more "press assumption"?

The quoted article is 12 days old, surely "official" confirmation would have filtered through by now?

Whilst I remember that the introduction of this ridiculous rule was introduced via the media, I find this assertive but unsubstantiated report irresponsible in the extreme, especially as people in the UK have been hit with the two month rule as recently as the last few days......

I was with my travel agent this afternoon here in goa and he showed me "the ministry of tourism" document informing all tour operators that the 2 month rule was going to be dropped; but at present it was still in force until they received further notification. As yet that notification has not been released.

Since the start this has been an in-fight between the MHA and the MEA (with the Ministry of Tourism in charge of the slices of orange at half time - girl's job innit?).

imho of course

Friends who got back into India in under 2 months despite the 2 month rule were travelling schedule. Some other friends who had booked their third trip to Goa this season with a gap of less than two months were told they could not come back by the charter company. They have gone elsewhere. Lets hope that it is correct that the two month rule is being rescinded.

Many people flying scheduled have been refused. Your friends were just lucky (?)..................

My oh went through the whole process HCI etc to get back in and did but no one looked at the stamp in his passport to say that he could come back. He reported to the police (in and out) as required and showed his papers at Mumbai on the way back to the UK (for the second time) and was asked why he had bothered to report to the police so in theory he could have not bothered with any of it but it would have been too risky not to have done it.

Exactly the opposite for friends of mine: 2nd trip, less than 2 months after first & no problems with charter flight company - then 3rd trip, less than 2 months after 2nd & refused by scheduled airline!

Who wants rhyme, reason or consistency. . . . . . . .

Not a case of the LEFT hand not knowing what the RIGHT hand is doing - more a case of the LEFT hand not knowing there is a RIGHT hand. . . . . . . . .

speaking about the 2 month issue

We need to get full clarification on the visa restriction," he said. Speaking to PTI on the sidelines of the Singapore roadshow, Lad said she expected the visa issue to be resolved by OCTOBER

It looks like they really have shot themselves in the foot with visa rule. They have spent millions on the common Wealth games.
It's correct what Dread mentioned in an earlier post. There is no certain procedure that immigration officers will all conduct the same set of guide line that as been given.
The only thing that is certain is you will lose your lighter and possibly your fags:rofl:
GC :rolleyes:I wouldn't believe a word they say unless it is Clarified on the Indian Consulate website

my travel agent has promised to keep me informed of updates. i`ve booked flights today to conform with the 2 month exile. but have got them suitably cheap enough that i can afford a change if the rules change, :fingerscrossed:im lfortunate enough to have someone to look after my dogs and water my garden for me. i really feelsorry for you stuck in the uk with that s*** weather. :fingerscrossed:for a early change of rules!

I agree too with GC56 - I won't believe anything till I actually see it in black & white on an official document/Home Office website.

And as for Immigration Officials having the power to let you in or not within the 2 month period - HAHAHA - that's a laugh. How many airlines are actually going to allow you to travel, if they run the risk of having to transport you back at their cost if you are turned back? Is it worth the risk and hassle?

Having just completed our 2 months back in Blighty and returned to Goa 2 weeks ago I fully sympathise with Lizze and others. But it does pass.........eventually:D

On our return our cat ignored us for a full week almost, but the dogs were at least pleased to see us.

But the thought of having this hanging over our heads every 6 months is making us re-think our whole retirement plans.

Happy Easter everyone.

Re: Visa help.

When i came through immigration at Mumbai airport yesterday i asked the man at passport control about the 2 month gap and wether it would be changing back, his words were.."No the 2 month gap will stay so we can keep an eye on long term holidaymakers who we do not really want in India".
So my advice would be pack your bags and go somewhwere you are felt to feel a little bit welcome that's not full of dirty, corrupt scroungers.
Yes i returned to India yestaerday to sell all my things rather than leaving it to the vultures.
Within 2/3 years Goa will be full of domestic Indian tourists, not for me thanks.

So sad to hear that Mrs B. M., mind you I wouldn't place too much faith in "immigration officials". Do they have the ear of those in higher places?

But, like you, we're actively looking for ways to salvage as much as we can of what we have invested here.

It does leave a sour taste, though..............suddenly it's not quite so incredible anymore. Perhaps they need to find a more suitable adjective - chaotic / blinkered spring to mind, and I'm being kind here.............

GOOD LUCK. Keep the vultures starving:thumbdown::thumbdown:
