1 couple have been twice on charters, the 2nd visit starting approximately 6 weeks after the end of the 1st visit & they had no problems on check in at the UK end, nor did they have any problems with immigration at Dabolim. 1 couple have been twice on scheduled services, the 2nd visit starting approximately 6 weeks after the end of the 1st visit & they had no problems on check in at the UK end, nor did they have any problems with immigration at Mumbai. Re: Visa rip off
I have had a two year multi-entry Business visa renewed without problem since 2002 (due to my association with an Indian company). This time I duly applied and sent all requirements as usual plus a total of £169 fee plus extras. Without explanation I received a one year visa and no refund of £55 difference. They could see my visa history in my passport so it was nothing new. No joy contacting VFS - not their problem. Does India really 'encourage foreign direct inward investment'? I think not and am seriously wondering why I bother. Daylight robbery to let you apply and pay and then keep the difference. How much are they creaming off doing this? Can't even get the cheaper Tourist visa now with this ridiculous 2 month before re-entry rule. - got us screwed as usual. Will just have to take valuable days off work plus travel to go to collect in person -will cost more than the £55 they pocketed!!

New rule - long term tourist visas(5 / 10 years )
It is on the US website now as well. http://www.indianembassy.org/newsite/visa.asp ‘There should be a gap of at least 2 months between two visits to the country on a Tourist Visa. In case of requirement to visit the country within 2 months, permission should be sought from the Head of Mission concerned. In such cases, registration would be required within 14 days of arrival.’ It's not as if they are here illegally or without seeking the proper channels! And there is, of course, overman's example. just after implementing visa on arrivals to encourage tourism, India does this? Shooting themselves in the foot, I'll say! What the heck is a "head of Mission"? And I'll be you they're not advising people of this as they're leaving the country! P.S. Privilege or not, it is ridiculous to change the rules with no notice whatsoever to visa holders, other than a tiny notice on the embassy website. Many people are here legitimately on tourist visa long term as there is no other option for people here who aren't getting paid & aren't students (e.g. research, language learning, volunteering, etc). I have friends who were TOLD to get a tourist visa by immigration as that is "for people who aren't making money." Who the hell is Head of Mission - come in Dr. Spock:rolleyes::rolleyes: At least these other countries have visa's up to 10 years saves the faffing about every year with Hayes. |

We know that some people are being turned back, and others at the beginning/middle January have got through. Let us see what happens to Em. (good luck Em) |

Re: Visa help.
Hi folks,
may I ask an urgent question: (also posted on IM) has anyone tried to get a new visa without the 1mth since last visa / 2mths since last visit restrictions being applied where the previous visa was an X (or any non T type)? From MHA FAQ: Q.9 Whether the restriction of two months gap for re-entering India is applicable to PIO/OCI card holders and foreigners holding business, employment, student and other categories of visa? Ans.: No. The two months gap is applicable only to Tourist Visa holders. |

H. Just received a letter from M****ch warning of the 2 month tourist visa rule ! It also states that you must wait 30 days before applying for a new visa on expiry of the old visa. This is a bit worrying as I contacted various tour companies over Christmas with ref to the ruling and none of them had heard of it ! More rules to complicate a complicated situation. Re: Visa help.
Went to travel agent in Calengute yesterday, to try to book flight home, as you know you have to give a return date - asked about the 90 day visa and he told us that at the moment it stood, we would only get 90 days next season.
