If you scroll down it is quoting an entry in the Hindustan Times, about the four days notice. It refers to other countries. UK does not yet have visa on arrival.
After UK election perhaps Modi will be invited to UK ??? and announce it then????

Ever the optimist PJ - unless they've announced special prices for the UK it's around £42. That's an improvement but compares (as of today - E&OE) with free 30 day in Thailand and US $15 in Sri Lanka.

P.S. It's in ToI online but I didn't see it in the Goa print version

All of it??? That's most of South India, I thought you preferred the North. (Hot bed of politics).
I wonder if there will be a reciprocal reduction in Visa charges for Indian visitors to UK? It is about £85 now.

Aurangabad is 1800 feet above sea level so the nights are very cool with hardly any humidity. Its also very nice to wander around with no hassles from traders.Want to see the meteor crater near Ajanta and stay at Ellora.Found great places using AB&B web site.Yes The Deccan is big.Climb to the top of Dalutabad Fort the view is breathtaking if you get there early before the haze forms.Literally you can see for miles and miles across a flat landscape. Aurangzeb is buried just down the road.

we were there in '73 - from what I see online there appear to be many more paintings in the Ajanta/ Ellora caves than there were back than. Can you still get to the caves by sedan chair?

No its very professional now with a visitors centre and paved walk ways.Small cafeteria and car park for coaches. One interesting fact that popped up while i was there last is how they painted in the darkness of the caves without blackening the ceilings from torches or oil lamps. They flooded the floor of the caves with water and used copper mirrors to reflect light into the interiors !
