I thought all those of you enjoying the sun out in Goa should know ... that its been snowing since this morning in London and heavy snow is predicted for the end of the week !

Yes, we have some of the white stuff here near Heathrow. The roads will be pretty dodgy come morning as they are quite wet and it`s going to be cold bbbrrrrr....Wish I was back in Goa..:D:D

Rode back from Oxfordshire to Surrey in it today (otherside of Heathrow Mum2randa, near Egham) on the manic scooter.
Not so bl**dy manic with thick fog and bilzzards on the M40 & Marlow bypass. Umpteen layers of clothing under a heavy coating of snow, slithering about a bit, and you know what?
Still had a silly grin on my face when I arrived...........what a saddo!

Surely J5 Goa has to be better this time of the year. My daughter who lives near you is moving tomorrow!!!! 3 kids, snow, and Christmas. Think I will settle for the sun and put on my rose tinted glasses while I can.

Going for a farewell dinner with Em tonight, so we will have a good giggle thinking of J5 bombing down the M whatever in a blizzard, bless his cotton sox.

Yup, nuts were roasting! Hands and feet cold and a thick layer of snow all up my front.
At this moment snowing hard, earlier Met Office saying 5-10cms, now saying 10-20cm!
Will probably stay off 2 wheels for a few days as sudden death not on my list to Santa.
Wind-chill walking back from the bus home from Windsor (£4 for a 10 min trip then a 20 min walk) was so cutting that I thought I had lost my nose at one point.

Was your nose like Rudolf's, or could you not feel it. Wonder if No.2 daughter will be able to move today as she is quite close to you, and surrounded by country lanes, from the old house to the new one.

We have 4-5 inches here (can't do cm's) and the local airport is shut. Looking out of my picture window into the back garden the sight is wonderful, a true Christmas card view. Deep untouched snow and a clear blue sky. So long as you don't have to go out its one of the beautiful days in this country. More snow forecast here later today. 70 miles of snow and closed roads between OH and me. Its gonna be a long weekend :thumbdown:

I'll live with the wanting. Last year on the same date (it's my birthday as well) we had the same weather. Well I always did want a 'white wedding' so here goes.
Have a great time with GC etc tomorrow and tell them that I am missing you all. Maybe one day when this mess is over we can have a great big party and take over a whole restaurant. I like to dream: :starsmile:

Thank you all for your kind wishes. :thumbsup: Slight confusion though as the wedding and my birthday are in February. It did snow last year on that day just as it has now so I still may get the white wedding.

It did, on first reading, appear that your birthday and wedding were this weekend, but after careful re-diagnosis it was open to interpretation. You didnt write FEMA did you Daff?

Yes it is still snowing! For those remaining in England(!) it will snow heavily on Tues, Wed and Thursday. They aren't saying what is happening after that. They may be worrying in case people decide to top themselves!

Up to 16" forecast with a foot being commonplace. Just brought the shovel and wellies in from the shed.

Whats the point in having a "north" if all the bad winter weather is concentrated in the south then?

We're in Glossop and I've not seen so much snow for years. We have been unable to leave town all today as all roads out were shut. (thats if you were foolish enough to even attempt to!). Our telephone wires look like fat polystyrene sausages! Snow is up to 14" and is still going (although a little lighter now). Pipes have frozen...water in bathroom backed up and kitchen ceiling leaking. Its been a lovely day :ohmy:

Rural Oxfordshire has 12" (measured) and Surrey where I am at present 7". Sky looks as if at least the same again to come. No buses running.

Now that is what I call a real dedicated fisherman :thumbsup:. I have fished in -2 frost but never in snow. Hope the pike were running well or maybe even a chub or two. Snow's about 3" deep where I am in the Chiltern foothills, snowed in again and working from home. Its still coming down but not nearly as bad as last night. A friend who is 15 miles N/E has been sent home from work! Its getting tedious now. :thumbdown:

This was the outside temperature :eek: that the car was showing at 06:48am in Manchester this morning – a few seconds earlier, it had been half a degree colder! Brrrrrrrrrrrrr. . . . . . . . If any of you are too warm in Goa, just let me know if you want to do a swap - only for South Goa mind - I've heard it's 'grim up North'. . . . . . . . .

Its far too cold. Some idiot on our street this morning thought it would be a good idea to move his safely parked car at the top of the hill to bring it down to park outside his house - he thought it was appropriate to skid it down as opposed to switching on the engine !??!! Ended up sliding into every single car that was parked on the side of the road - all seven of them. The wrath of the neighbours when they wake up will hopefully melt the snow for us :thumbsup::thumbsup:
