Re: A slight increase in visa fees

A copy of the recent reply I recieved from VFS asking if 5 yr tourist visas were now freely available!!!

Thank you for your email.

Please note that a tourist visa may be issued normally for three months to six months with single, double or multiple entries and is non-extendable and non-convertible.

Please note that applicant may apply for the visa and its duration as per their requirements, along with a covering letter stating their situation with the relevant documents and visa fees. However, please note that granting of visa and its duration remains solely at the discretion of the High Commission of India or Its Consulates once the file reaches them.

All visa fees once paid are non-refundable irrespective of the outcome of the visa application and duration granted.

Please note - In view of the spread of the Swine Influenza A (H1N1) all passengers traveling to India will be screened at the International Airports in India on their arrival. This will also involve quarantine and even hospitalization, if detected, with any symptoms connected with the flu.

Re: A slight increase in visa fees

They've been sending that same proforma reply for years. Despite what it says there have been 'few or less' reports of 3-months visas being issued in the UK - I guess it's an international pro-forma.
There may be some clarification in due course 'when the modalities have been sorted out'.

A person by the name of Tarun Trivedi at VFS Services is usually aware of what is going on & has provided helpful & timely replies in the past.

Didn't post the full email address as I didn't think it was allowed, but will do so if it's okay to do so.

Re: A slight increase in visa fees

Apparently these new visa fees are now in line with what the Americans and Canadians have been having to pay!!

I`m still waiting for a "sensible" response from VFS about who will be eligible for 5 yr visas..........

They seem to say one thing and do another in different places and at different times..its like playing football with a jellyfish!
I applied for a two year visa and got a one year visa and they refunded the difference...on the condition I worked at Fort Aguada prison cleaning the loos!
Whats it like getting a one year Tourist Visa now??

It`s not on the price list but I guess if you apply for a 2 yr you`ll probably end up with a 1 yr.

Re: A slight increase in visa fees

My latest response from VFS asking who is eligible to apply for a 5yr T visa..

We would like to inform you that a 5 year tourist visa can be applied for, provided you supply a detailed letter explaining your travel plan and mentioning why you would like to apply for a 5 year visa along with your application form and a tentative Travel Itinerary to support your application.

However, granting of visa and its duration remains solely at the discretion of the High Commission of India or Its Consulates once the file reaches them.

All visa fees once paid are non-refundable irrespective of the outcome of the visa application and duration granted.

Mine to Noni asn they did in Oct when applying for 1yr X visa and getting 1 yr t Visa.

The sums of money involved are a bit major tho!

Someone I know has suggested contacting credit card co`s to see if VFS/ HCI can actually take your money and give you a visa of lesser value legally!!!!
