Which Resturants/Shacks should we avoid?

Which eateries should we avoid this season - share your bad experiences

Hi Morse,
Its my experience that the real quite ones that aren't busy are the ones to avoid!!!
There probably not busy for a very good reason.
Most well established eateries are usually quite good.
Where abouts are you North Goa or South???

I am in the North - love the South for a day visit, but too quiet. Usually go to the Leela for Breakfast and a game of golf once a season

Some resturants are full every night, yet the food is crap so I suppose it is
try it and see for yourself.

Places to avoid?
Souza Lobo......trades on its past, food expensive and rubbish, like a vast transport cafe full of badly behaved Bombay children (and their badly behaved parents).
Plantain Leaf....similar environment and clientelle, and compared with the likes of Navtara, the food is at best mediocre.
Theres a start, naming names just like Morse suggested, innit?

As the Leela Hotel is in Cavelossim and Morse is in the north, fair chance he doesnt travel two hours for breakfast every day, even though he cant spell Lila

I do agree with you about Souza Lobos and Plaintain Leaf also The Midas Touch has went down hill bigtime over recent years.

Fishermans Cove, Candolim. Worst veg biryani I have ever had, no vegetables to speak of, ridiculously hot, terrible service. Took one spoonful, left the rest. Waiter puzzled why I hadn't eaten it, told him, no apology no nothing, paid the bill never to return

and they used to be really good, suppose they are full every night in the season so are happy. There was a time when Blaze and Lenny were very "on the ball".

Another couple of places to avoid :
- The Mermaid at Candolim - went there last season and asked the owner to adjust my meal due to allergy and the cow who owns it (European woman)was so onnoxious and rude about it - then charged me extra to adjust my meal - when I was having less on my plate!!! Total rip off and the measliest portions of food too.
- Chinese restaurent (can't recall name) but near to Casa Seashell Candolim - you reach it through a lit up archway type tunnel. They rip you off as well - they add extras onto your bill if you are a new customer and add an extra 20 or so rupees onto each thing you order. The owner is the one who does the bills and he is blatant - tried it on us to the tune of nearly 400 rupees - and then refused to alter it when challenged ! Needless to say we only paid for what we ordered !! I think the owner is called somethinmg like DARIUS. Food was also very below average when compared to Roys Chinese food at Candolim and Kim Faa at Baga.
I think that any restaurent mentioned on this thread should be avoided by all - after all if they can't offer decent food and service, and don't treat their customers with respect - there are plenty of alternative places who deserve our custom more.
Dread - standards !

Totally agree - went a couple of seasons ago to Souza Lobos - had the second worst meal Ive ever had in Goa. The worst meal by far was at the Prezarus Hotel in Candolim where I ate with friends one night - OMG that was disgusting food!
