Restaurants open in Goa
What Restaurants are open?
What is the quality of the food, and the prices?

Ah Ah open - Sunday buffet 450 including river trip, live music and houssie!!
Souymens - as good as ever and very clean.
Anand - near to St Anthonys Chapel - best veggie in Calangute
and that is my list
Lots of them are now open or getting there but we as we mostly eat at home don't know the prices this season - yesterday went to Navtara in Mapusa and their prices have increased by a few rupees but don't really notice at their prices.
Going by the prices of veg on the market I am sure the restaurant prices will increase or the portions will be smaller. All to do with the flooding a couple of weeks ago - spinach which was 3rps is now 10 and a very small cauliflower 25-30rps.
Dals and rice prices have risen dramatically - infact there have been big food price changes since last season

Em, did you ask them at Ahh Goa how they justify increasing the cost of the Sunday Buffet from Rs350 t0 Rs450 for exactly the same thing?
Still at least it proves that they are "genuine" Goans.............

I don't remember from one season to the next how much eating out costs - that is a hike though is it not.
Just been to Panjim and ate at Hotel Fidalgo Veggie Restaurant (the one on the main road not inside the hotel) and we had a large plate of Bhel Puri between us then 1 Delhi Burger and 1 Bombay Burger which came with a hand full of piping hot thin cut chips (thought we were in Mcd's) and filtered water. 150rps for all which included luxury tax and 5% service tax. The place was spotless as were the tables and cutlery.

just been to Sher e Punjab:
2 non-veg meals with roti's/kulcha; two lime sodas; two Kingfisher; fresh fruit salad; kulfi rabdi; another meal to take-away
total Rs. 800/- with tip
Apart from Hidalgo inside for special occasions Sher e Punjab's about the most expensive place we go.

had a nice whole tandoori chicken 160 rups at riverside, verem side on nerul bridge, tandoor working on a lunchtime large kingfisher 55rups all food was good

The Carvery is doing well always clean, staff need a bit more training but should work well.
Indiana in Beach Road good food and service.
Tiger Trail is up and running if the owner stays away great VeeJay has taken over from Sharmer and he's trying, a good replacement.
Flambe just past the Stonehouse is also worth a visit
Fishermans Cove increased his prices 10-15 rupees across the board 2 weeks ago,
and there is an awful smell but he's not bothered, as yet the Russians are teaming in!!!!

Snows Inn has had a clean up. The kitchen has been sand blasted and tiled the ceiling in the restaurant has been boarded inside and the birds nest lampshades have gone, tableclothes are clean and he's wearing a clean shirt. Ohhh and the foods good value and quantity worth a visit and if you think so please tell him, he's good.
The Carvery is doing well always clean, staff need a bit more training but should work well.

Every year Ram has a month or so training the staff at the end of the season they were spot on.
Will miss Sharmer, if it was not for him, the owner would have lost his business, he used to sit there whilst Sharmer ran around like a blue arse fly.
Will give them a try - it all depends who is the cook is this season, how the food is.

I would avoid Mapusa market at all costs right now, the fish market has now been closed awaiting the new smaller ones opening and the sellers are all outside and its disgusting dont care how much cheaper the fish is there I cant go again its to vile for words.....

Athens on Baga beach, lovely stonebaked pizzas from Rs. 180 to 250 (enough for two to share).
Viva Goa, Candolim main road, near Lawande resort - good for seafood, many locals go there, had some rawa fried king prawns for Rs. 110
