Default Renting in Goa

Hi - looking for advice on long-term house rental in north Goa, maybe Siolim area. Anyone have a decent tip for how to go about finding a place?

+ tips on nursery schools and areas to move to with young families

The ebst thing to do is jus go round asking people, it's normally better earlier on in the season as there's more choice and many places have been vacant and they are eager to get someone in (so you can bargain better), You should be able to get around the 6000 Rs/- mark for something nice, I wouldn't pay more than 8000 unless you're looking for something upmarket. Normally electricity and water re on top of this, to give you an idea I pay abour 250 Rs/- (for two months - electricity) and water is about the same...

THanks for the reply-it is highly appreciated .
well i am looking for something in the range of 2000-4000 max.A decent bathroom,no creepy landlord..Well,i am more into sharing a house with a group of people because i feel its more fun..hate loneliness..MY office is in panjim and anywhere in or around there would be gud enough. I Wil be reaching goa on 29th of december because my training starting in early january.

If that budget is per month (as normally quoted on here) and you want Panjim, then even sharing you have a problem,
From the way you phrase things I get the impression that you are of Indian origin, do you have any family contacts who could help?
No creepy landlords? No chance, this is Goa!

You should check out tenancy rules before letting long term. A friend rented a Goan house but had to get out for a month each year as the landlord would not allow a longer tenancy because for tenancy protection rules. You do not want to let it out then find you can not get it back!

Hi Sandrine!

Would you be interested on sharing the apartment with me? I just need a clean room with private WC, in a furnished apartment.

I am also preparing my stuff to go on early january, and I would definitely prefer sharing an apartment than living alone!!!

We could discuss this in more detail be chat.

Please add me on Skype: Daniela.semedo .

Best wishes, and good luck with your move to Goa....

So do I take it that no-one - other than Rob, to whom I am grateful for the advice - has any tips for me? No-one out there who can offer any advice on nursery schools in north Goa. There must be someone with children, surely...
