Last season drivers wanted to charge 200 one way from Arpora to Calangute which I would not pay so they would take me for 100 which is still over the government rate
I think taxis are a bit of a law unto themselves over there - like Msj5 says - too many with not enough customers !
I found last year and the one before that most wanted 100 rupees before they would even start the engine, even for a short journey. It seemed also that the ones who are pitched up outside the hotels and resorts tended to charge the higher prices.
I did find some who would do local rates for me once I rang them a few times - well worth finding a couple of nice ones and getting their numbers then using them all the time.

Slightly askew from prices but inextricably linked - is the exchange rate still creeping up at the moment?

Sorry Dave you have not had any replies regarding "Technica UK" I for one have never heard of them. If it is a property company, try again on Buyer Beware or start a new thread.

Hello! Taxi! I was canvassed for a taxi when DRIVING my JEEP! Through the driver-side window came - Hello, Taxi! Tip like dread says is to negotiate and don't get into a taxi before agreeing the price to your destination in advance. Baga to Candolim? Should be Rs 50 and not a paisa over that. Don't be fooled.
