Friends have recently booked with Jet via Mumbai to come out in Nov and going back end of April and was near to £600.
Jet was more expensive when we booked in May but for some reason their flights are now cheaper - does not add up.
Just out of curiosity will now go and have a look at todays prices.
One thing - we booked direct with Sri Lanka and they gave us 20kg of luggage and 1 hand luggage. We booked with an agent given to us by Sri Lanka for our son (we could not deal with SA direct because we were paying for the flight and the name on the ticket has, by law, to have the bank card with them when they check in. There is no way our son is having my bank card in his care for 3 months - there would be nothing left in it when I got it back) Anyway back to the reason. The agent gave him 30kg - 1 hand luggage and 1 laptop which when he usually gets on a plane with a laptop and what he is wearing really narked me. Have filled him a case to bring with him :)

30 kg. luggage 5k hand luggage including hotel accommodation for one night if you miss your connection. Don't know if this is of any help.

They are an excellent airline, extra room, good food etc.

Anybody else found anything else reasonable? Looking to come back mid December.

We've used Virgin and Deccan several times. First time we used it we were aware of the baggage limit of 15Kg on Deccan but each extra kilo was quoted as something like 70 Rups - so not a major problem. As it happens we've never been charged.

Son flew over with Virgin a couple of years ago and said they were fine - always travels to USA with them.

Thanks D4ve M and hello (I'm pretty new here also!). Never flown with Virgin are they OK?. We had a very bad flight with Deccan a few years ago. It was the propeller plane, during the monsoon, in the middle of a bad storm. Really didnt think we were going to make it:ohmy: People screamed for the whole flight and the one crew member (a young gir) sat in the brace position from start to finish. It has put us off slightly :rofl: Presume that the new Kingfisher Red are using the same planes and staff?
