Price of Flights

Just wondering what sort of prices you are achieving for 6 months stay, and for three weeks around 7th December until end December?

Re: Price of Flights

We booked with Sri Lanka in May for a stay from September to May and the cost was £505 - at the moment is now just over £700
Our son - booked at the same time - from Mid December for 6 weeks was £590 in now over a grand
Friends have recently booked with Jet via Mumbai to come out in Nov and going back end of April and was near to £600.
Jet was more expensive when we booked in May but for some reason their flights are now cheaper - does not add up.
Just out of curiosity will now go and have a look at todays prices.
One thing - we booked direct with Sri Lanka and they gave us 20kg of luggage and 1 hand luggage. We booked with an agent given to us by Sri Lanka for our son (we could not deal with SA direct because we were paying for the flight and the name on the ticket has, by law, to have the bank card with them when they check in. There is no way our son is having my bank card in his care for 3 months - there would be nothing left in it when I got it back) Anyway back to the reason. The agent gave him 30kg - 1 hand luggage and 1 laptop which when he usually gets on a plane with a laptop and what he is wearing really narked me. Have filled him a case to bring with him :)

Re: Price of Flights

Just checked yesterday about the new Kingfisher flight from London via Bangalore ( which is just starting ) and was quoted RS46,000 for a 6 month return. BUT they do not have specific details of flight availabiliyt in April/May. PLUS the connection in Bangalore is not good ( involves an overnight stay).

However this may be an option worth keeping an eye on as it develops.

E-Bookers, Heathrow to Mumbai return with Air India in January £345.
Mumbai to Heathrow return, with same company, same dates £604 .
How does that work ?
Have you guessed I need to go to UK for 2 weeks in Jan ?

:confused::confused:

Suggest you also look at current BA flight sale. Have just booked outward flight from London end October, returning May 2009 for 359 ( London / Mumbai/London).

Re: Price of Flights

Hi All

Am looking for flights for next Tues, Weds or Thurs for our return to Goa.

We live in the north but flights from Manchester seem very very expensive. It looks like it would be a lot cheaper to drive to Heathrow and park for three months instead.

The best I can find is from Heathrow to Mumbai with Virgin and Mumbai to Goa with Kingfisher Red (the old Deccon boneshaker!). The price is £387 each for both flights which seems good. But the return means an overnight in Mumbai and Kingfisher Red only gives you 15kg baggage.

Anybody else found anything else reasonable? Looking to come back mid December.

many thanks Andyru

Sri Lanka are give October- end November £485 LHR-Colombo-Goa
30 kg. luggage 5k hand luggage including hotel accommodation for one night if you miss your connection. Don't know if this is of any help.

They are an excellent airline, extra room, good food etc.

Re: Price of Flights

The Sri Lanka offer is not what it seems - the offer is for 2 months starting now. Just been on their site and to travel next week and come back mid December is £725 - we are going next week and booked 3 months ago for £505 and is coming up at the £725 price.
Try Jet - into Mumbai and down to Goa and they will get you there if the flight is delayed. They are coming up at £557 return.
BA have some deals but getting up and down to Goa is putting up the price.
