We are talking about the whole of the UK here, not just particular areas.
If women are dressed in the same way as everybody else, do you know that they are Muslim? You may be missing some!!

As far as I can see its a convenient way for Muslim men to subjugate their womenfolk in the name of archaic relious practices.

And from what does it originate? From a male concern that if other men see the beauty of "their" woman they will be driven wild with desire and lose control.
Oh my God, we are back to the perverts on the beach with their brown underpants (dont you dare Dread!) and camera-phones, innit?

Did you know Johnnny five you can often tell by which side of their nose is pierced, don't know the story behind that but most Indians seem to have a understanding for this

Ive always found it extremely difficult to decide on the whys and wherefores of the burkha and such like, and so honestly do not have any opinions on its uses etc. However, today, where the garb is a potential cloak for criminal activity, and it has already shown to be, I think it's users have an obligation as upright citizens to not wear it in it's fullness and to display their own desire to reduce the anxieties and fears of their fellow countrymen. In not doing so, they are compounding their own alienation. To ask people to willingly live alongside potential unknown threats constantly is not acceptable anywhere in the world. In continuing to wear such clothing to the extent it is being worn, is to knowingly cause discomfort to others and surely cannot be a tenet of any religious belief.

but the majority of Muslim women in UK and India do not wear the Hijab
Whose sweeping statement was that?

Could it have come from someone who hates the use of "all" indians, or "all goans"?

The whole of the UK?

Since Muslim immigrants tend (tend is a flexible term) to live in concentrated communities in certain parts of the UK, then looking at the UK in general is pointless isnt it?
How many hijabs/burkas/etc are you likely to see in the Shetlands, or the Yorkshire moors, or Henley-on-Thames, or Salisbury Plain, or Eton?
Of course its localised.
Your obsessive need to argue with anything that doesnt fit you "model", be it phraseology, racial issues, religious dogma etc has somewhat betrayed you here?
I have a delicious picture of you sat in a corner arguing with yourself, I shall sleep easy tonight on that basis, with a simile (sic) on my face.

What I really hate is racialism and the idea that some bad Indians/Goans/Muslims mean freedom to insult the lot. As I have explained to Noni I will not be contributing further so you can sleep very easily. (See 'more Goans head for the Uk'), I will be in my corner happily looking at my newborn Indian/English grandson.

Milwart says he will bring his thong for the evenings..........

"Just a thong at twilight, when the lights are low"

He also wants to know where to get a "Taff" phrase-book (his words, not mine)

A bit like when you used to put a blade of grass between both thumbs and blow, I guess?
