Yes I read the post about Dion I know both him and Monica used to "Party" a lot so I'm not suprised he has to watch his health.

Yeah John remember that well,
The Sausages were like little cocktail ones you normally see on sticks!! And they were bl**dy awfull, the Bacon was hard as you say but yo know what it didn't matter because we were having a Full English in Baga on the Beach in the Monsoon and it was brilliant in those days!!!
That was when Barry started to go on the back of a bike again. He used to have no balance and after a few Feni's I would almost have to strap him to me to get home!!
He had fallen down a pig toilet years ago and broken his neck (Lucky to be alive) and that is why he used to have such bad balance on the bike, he was scared to death. I would be riding really slow and he would be screamy "Slow down Cooooooockk" With his trusty cloth bag flying in the wind on his shoulder. He never went anywhere without his bag which contained penny whistle's ready to play a tune at a moments notice.
He had the accident a while before I met him but he was admitted to "The Candolim Health Center" (don't even know if it is still there) What a place that was literally blood up the walls and dirty bandages all over the place, but they fixed him up. Tommy used to say that he had grown his beard & hair long because his neck looked really ugly, but I don't think so.
Tommy & Barry used to have a love hate relationship, Oh and the thing in the book about barry been a great Backgamon player.....well if he was I never saw him play backgamon in the god knows how many years I was with him!!!!
He would rather talk and tell stories(Ohh Bob turn that bloody music down will you, it's not music it sounds like Jungle drums. Boom...Booom) He was talking about some Reggae or House music that Bob would play on the outdated tape recorder that every now and again would get damp and the cassettes would stretch in the humidity. Then you would here tap..tap of Bob bashing the tapes on the bar counter to make them work again.

The funny thing about Tommy and Monica is that they were married and divorced and that the property settlement, which was never resolved, was due for a hearing in the Supreme Court of India.It had to do with the conflicting nature of Goas Portuguese based property laws and India's, which are largely British based.Tommy must have lost around a crore through his divorce and dealings with the thugs, who ran West End Night Club near Porvorim.Willy De Souzas son has a share in that place too.I remember Monica and Dion driving around in in an old cut down Triumph car.The last time i saw the thing it was a weed basket on the Betim road ! Vital still runs the Mango tree along from Bobbs though, he was the last time i was there.

Dread, I too bought the above book via Ebay for a quid plus another £1.65 for postage. I finished reading it yesterday & thought it was a very interesting read but to my mind it was a bit far fetched & I don't really think I believe that is what happened to the not so honourable John Bingham.

I'd like to get hold of a copy of "Goa Freaks" by Cleo Odzer - it's around £80 secondhand on Amazon :eek: - there was one on Ebay the other week but I missed the end of the bloody auction & it sold for only £22.50 :mad:

What is the book 'Goa Freaks' about? Sounds interesting just from the title.

As far as I know it's about the author's experiences living in Goa during the hippie? (hippy?) years/era - no doubt there's alot about drugs in there which, for some strange reason I always seem to find interesting.

Goa Freaks is a quite entertaining read.
Unfortunately, my copy fell victim to white ants a few years ago. :ohmy:

Dreadsoc i too was looking for Goa Freaks and i came across a reference that it was re-printed in Goa and is available off the shelf.I too thought asking £80 for a £3 paper back says it all about the so-called hippies of the 70s.It will be one of those re-prints that the Indians are so good at knocking out.You read it once and it falls apart........:eek:
