Unhappy Internet Banking in India

Hi
Posted this elsewhere and now wonder if the Goaites can help me!!
Living in Mumbai and for no reason my British Bank has stop me accessing my account on the internet saying that the B Gov has placed restrictions
on banking in SE Asia.
No one here has heard of this and wondered if anyone else having problems
Thanks

You can pay bills and open bank accounts in foreign jurisdictions. Sounds like the British banks are not much use for you in Asia. Maybe you should transfer your funds out.

Thanks,
D

Need to keep paying mortgage on house at the moment so seemed easier to keep stuff in the uk to do that. But may be not!

Interestingly Indian banks send email statements the A and L bank in the uk will not even do that!!

Hi, You can get a good internet banking account with smile in the UK. They have the added advantage of claiming to invest ethically unlike the other banks. It is easy to open an account and statements are sent by email. http://www.smile.co.uk/ethics.html?loc=l

The reason for banking abroad is simply to reduce the snooping into your private affairs by government and is part of "the 5 flag strategy". See http://www.sovereignlife.com/ for more info.

I closed my smile account think wrongly that the Alliance and lec would serve me well enough - ah well will email and see if they can reopen the account or something similar that does not need me to trip back to uk!!!
