Default Indian Visas

I live in South Goa, for about 8 months in a year.
As we all know, rumours in Goa, are the norm.
The latest one in South Goa, in the future we will
only be getting 3 month tourist visas, the same as
Italians.
Any news from the North of Goa on this latest rumour??.
Thanks

Hi stevebenaulim,
I applied for a years visa on line, posted it off to the London office last Monday morning and received it back on Friday.
This has got to be a record, guess they aren't very busy nowadays.

Hi Stevebenaulim, do you realise it is almost 6 months since you first started worrying about your visa and over the 6 month period there have been all sorts of stories, rumours etc. What a shame you have been worrying all this time, if you're going to stay in Goa why dont you chill out and worry nearer the time, it seems sad to have your time consumed with this issue when it is so far ahead of you. I do hope you get the visa you want, if anyone deserves one its you, you have a dogged determination.

My 5 year x visa expires june 09, and of course ive been trying
to work out how to get another.
But dont worry it hasnt spoilt my life one little bit.
I just think in advance, hence i was fully retired at 40.
Im not so worried, but i no longer have a base in the UK,
so it will hotels in London for me.
so ive been exploring every avenue.
My first 5 year x took me 2 years to get.
Bad news Harry1 my Italian girlfriend who lives in Verona
arrives in Goa next week, Rome and Milan (outsourcing),
will now only issue 3 months single entry visa for India.
This is new, as my girlfriend got a 6 month multi entry
last season.
Ive spoken to other Italians in Goa recently, and yes 3 month
single entry.
Its the same in Greece im told.
Maybe thats why, we have a strong rumour in South Goa,
that in the future 3 months will be the norm.
As for Italy this is no rumour but fact.
I only rent in Goa, and if the 3 monther is true,
Good bye from me.

Towards the end of last season there was a list printed in the newspapers of all the Countries who would be granted 3 month visas - there was quite a lot but the UK was not one of them.
I will try and find it for you.
My Italian neighbour had stayed in Goa for many years for 6 months each European winter and was very worried when she read this and said if this was so then she could not afford to keep coming and going every 3 months and was very upset about it. Due to unforseen circumstances she has not had the opportunity to return but I do know she would not have come for 3 months.

We have friends who have had 2 x 5year visas plus assorted others previously - all their assets are in Goa including property they purchased 12 years ago - long before this fiasco - pay tax here - only time they leave is for a holiday to see family and bingo - they go to renew their visa and what did they get but 6 month tourist. Now not able to purchase a new car - have a very uncertain future when once they thought they were very secure and we worry if they will only give us 6 month ones.

Hi Cornishboy, you don't say whether your visa is a business or tourist visa, we have rented an apartment in Bogmalo for a year and are going out in Feb for 3 months and then next Oct for 6 months so it would be nice to get a visa for 12 months.

NO PLEASE DON'T DO THAT !!!!!!!!!!!

As some of you will know, on IndiaMike in the visa questions section, they are lucky enough to have an employee of VFS who voluntarily answers questions and gives advice.
Just TODAY he has posted that ONE YEAR visas are not being issued at the moment and haven't been for about a month. He also stresses that this could change at any time as the HCI is notoriously fickle.

OMG! only money to lose, if you apply by post and it's rejected you don't get a refund.

if you are gonna try and get anything above 6 months then go to a visa office in person and smile sweetly and then the man will tell you there and then if it's ok.
