Heard a rumuor that the Russian Consulate in Goa had written a letter of complaint to the Goan Government. Must stress it is only a rumour!!

Trade and Investment Minister/Ministry is also a relevant department to contact. After all, it is British investors that are being affected and the specific "desk" there deals with all such issues directly with New Delhi where all power resides. Those who have opened companies especially are entitled to the support and advocacy that the Trade Dept provides. It's puzzling that the Russian Consul should have reacted so quickly whilst other representatives have stayed mum. It would be a mistake to take the 'softly softly' approach as it only postpones everything and gives time for more shananigans. Literally thousands of legitimate land owners have been taken for a ride and lost everything that way. Its a skillful refined art : "they" know you can only stay 180 days, so delay meetings, clarifications, documents until you have to exit. This carries on for decades until you cannot afford (health or money) to pursue matters. When you head to heaven, things remain in limbo and they hold all the cards, plus POSSESSION. One hopes that genuinely honourable folk such as the Tata Group and others like them also exert some pressure for obvious reasons.

Hi All,

Good news:thumbsup:

One of our fellow SAAGi people has created an E-partition on the Downing St website under ;petitions.pm.gov.uk/Goa-properties/ (can also be found if its googled)
It mentions about the possible confiscations, changes to FEMA/RBI reg, the DOE letter and the fact that property is still being marketed by British estate agents:thumbdown:

It needs 200 signatures to guarantee a minister will take our plight up !
So COME ON ALL:thumbsup:get your families, friends, colleagues et al to reach the 200 in record time, if you have been sitting on the fence :curse:NOW IS THE TIME TO DO SOMETHING to make a difference !

Re: GOA - Buyer Beware!

why do u guys not get hold of the press and get an article done, say in the daily mail? with all the bad press here over the scarlett keeling case, i think they would jump at it. people here in UK need to know what is happening in goa, it is a most dreadful scam. i do not own property in goa(thank god), have always rented. but this is a scam all the same.
the scarlett keeling murder would have been covered up, had it not been for a handful of us brits calling the press in the UK to get out there and blow it up. it worked, didn't it? it highlighted how corrupt the police are. i think a saagi campaign in the papers would be great!

I guess I might sign it anyway, but what a pity you put in that bit about agents, developers and Goan lawyers - they are not breaking the law, the Goan government/ sub-registrar is, And the law hasn't changed (yet). It really is a pity to muddy the waters like this. <sorry> AndyD 8-(#

:curse:Come on guys, we don't have any profile at all in the UK. Lets get it raised up to those who are supposed to represent us and then sort out the fine print. In the main by EU standards we are being ripped off. Has anyone suggested giving us back the money we spent in order to make things right for us and allow Goans to claim back what is rightfully theirs?
We rest our case - and we signed!!!

Hi All,

I agree with Andy on this ,the law has not in general been broken at the Goan end ( apart from the closure of the register from august 06 up to 24th april 08). However, they have engaged in restrictive practices and unethical behavior. The majority of FNs have simply acted foolishly, e g signed a piece of paper with LEASE written across the top and somehow convinced themselves that they (and not the developer/freeholder ) own the property in question.

The fine print is most important when submitting any document, including a petition , FEMA has not been amended but the 1908 Registration Act has. Fundamental errors like this will weaken any case that you may have due to too the expresion of too much raw emotion and not enough fact and logic.

I suggest if you are going to submit a petition ,the wording should be changed immediately.

regards

douglas

Hi All,

Well done for starting a petition however i have to agree with Andy and Douglas that the wording and facts must be correct or it may very well backfire. I agree that the wording if possible should be changed....it must be factual and accurate. Sorry about the critisism.

Remy

ps. Still signed it though.;)
