Re: GOA - Buyer Beware!
This is a nightmare indeed. Ive travelled to Goa hundreds of times but am now being allowed a 3 months visitors visa only instead of the usual five yr multiple. Always wanted a place to call my own in Goa, but am being shoved off methinks. Mind you, it was a very amusing time at the consular office, watching a bangaldeshi offer various nations passports to the clerk for his visa.
HAve any of the builders/sellers made a formal statement in public re the status of FNs vis prop holdings? The questions raised on this forum will no doubt be very intersting to all kinds and whoever is 'watching' I hope they realise that FN private interests may well be the only salvation to the ecological future of Goa. |

Or are you one of those.......... we are supposed to be afraid of. (only joking:rofl: Douglas - Why do the planning office in Goa allow developers to develope land knowing the prices they are going to charge for the finished properties  which are definately not affordable for the locals. None of it makes sense, are they all complete ..... |

Maybe wheatsheaf isnt british, i think citizens of us and maybe canada used to get 5 or 10 year tourist visas endorsed for 6 months for entry into india. Perhaps he will fill in the details The planning dept in goa or anywhere else for that matter is not responsible for controlling property price inflation. Central banks are though, asset price inflation is caused by excess money supply and the irresponsible issuing of credit. Not necessarily from the indian banks, but from the banks of most developed countries. That excess money is then being brought into india by the citizens of those countries. Importing inflation from developed countries is not a healthy thing to do, particularly for a relatively weak economy like india . That is one of the reasons why the indian govt is taking the appropriate measures to restrict this inflow. regards douglas |
Re: GOA - Buyer Beware!
oops sorry. It is a 6 month visa, not three. I was a bit hasty there and not paying attention.
And no Noni, there is nothing to be afraid of from me I can assure you. Ive no doubt however that this board is being kept an eye on to gauge FN reaction to the current situation. Alternatively, the information gleaned here on all matters Goan, is by far the most informative. Even if compared to sites devoted to Goa!!!, by Goans!!!!. Over the weekend I met a lawyer from Goa who was actually unaware of the potential problems arising from the way flats are sold to date. The general attitude is that things will 'sort out' as stated by the realtors. But then again, it isnt their coin is it? Moreover, it isnt Goa that's writing the rules on this. |

To the best of my knowledge the only change that has happened in the last 12 months is the illegal refusal by the sub-registrars in Goa to register transactions involving FN's AndyD 8-)# |

You are also omitting from the equation, the stance taken by immigration. Another symptom admittedly, but even more restrictive. For the cause , go to the source of the river. regards douglas |

... and I have only some slight and anecdotal knowledge of the stance taken by immigration.. AndyD 8-)# I have overestimated you, i dealt with your point and developed the argument. I wasnt being wooly either, i presumed you would give my statement some thought instead of so glibly dismissing it and hoped you would maybe come up with an answer something like this. "It is the insensitivity, greed and hedonism of the very people who cannot see themselves for what they are, that are at the root cause of the problem. The reason they cannot see clearly even now, is because they are continuing to try and justify that very greed and hedonism rather than trying to understand it. And in seeking an external solution they are so distracted, that they forget to look in the mirror, where the true perpetrator abides". In your case i would also add in a large pinch of perversity. I have personal experience of the stance taken by immigration and it is very real. I m sure your day will come, if you and others continue with this mindset. regards douglas |

I wonder where these rumours start. We are not having a problem as a company based in goa selling property in goa if what we were doing was illegal do you not think the Goverment would have closed us down. If you follow the rules there is no problem." |
