Hi !!who is your property deveolper and where in Goa have you bought Im interested because we have bought in Colva south Goa and our property will be ready next year
For anyone interested there is a peice in GOAVOICE today a news paper I subscribe to saying that the Goa youth have took a partition to goverment protesting about foreigners buying property in Goa protesting for the laws to change so to stop foreigners buying
things could get a bit rocky for those of us who have invested and I don't think we would have a leg to stand on

I am also considering moving to Goa. Married 2 kids: 15 & 13. Can you tell
about your experience of schooling and purchase of property ? I am looking to buy. What schools are you considering ? Did you buy a property ?

Where is the best location to but in Goa ? In the north or south ?
Can anyone recommend a good development to purchase ? free-hold detached 3 - 4 bed ?

It depends on what you are looking for the north is a bit like costa del Sol but nice
the south is quieter the beachs are gorgeous
we have bought in the south
We bought through Keith Morling he made the whole process easy really he has some 3-4 beds on his web site at the moment http://www.goawayhomes.co.uk
It may pay you to visit first to check out where in Goa you prefere

Nice to see some other people who are buying in Danika Residency Phase II. We are buying number 8. We were last there in November 2005. We set up our company and everything seemed to go ok. We are going back in October for 6 months. We would love to hear from our neighbours who have seen the complex recently. We can't seem to get a completion date from Micon, can anybody help? We would love to speak to somebody. Thanks.

Hi Steve and June.

My wife and I have been considering moving to Goa for a while now, but never given it much of a chance as we were a bit aprehensive about starting a business. I noticed you have done just that,and wondered if you have any hints and tips, and if there are any pitfalls you should look out for. Also, is it true that you can apply for a 2 year visa if you start a business? Any info much appreciated. Had enough of the rat race!!

Re completion dates - I gather that Micon are clawing back some of the delay but it will depend on the monsoons. The latest I have (may) is that internal walls are up and stairways cast, but Micon are excellent builders but dreadful at replying to emails. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Steve and June Im Karen and my husband is Cliff we are at number 25 Danika on phase 2 we have been told completion June 2007 but When we visited in April this year they had come along way from when we were there in January Pat and Roy on this furum are trying to get a sort of residents group going by way of e-mail etc if you leave them or myself a PRIVATE MESSAGE leave your e-mail or telephone number I would love to chat with you

Steve and I set up a company last year in order to buy a house out there. There is a bit of a Catch 22 situation about residency at the moment. To get a residency visa you have to stay there for 182 days but, of course, the tourist visa only lasts 180. However, if you have a business there you can get a two year visa and once you've been there the required 182 days you can apply for a residency visa.

So there is a way round it, if a bit long winded, but hopefully the Indian government will start to relax the rules, especially as they are keen to encourage foreign investment.

We have had a few sleepless nights since signing up for our house but so far there haven't been any nightmares. The worst problem we've had is trying to get information out of the builders, particularly about a completion date, but apart from that everything seems to be going to plan.

We found a good solicitor whom we are willing to recommend if you decide to go ahead. He helped us to to set up our company and a bank account and it all went very smoothly. The cost was £300 - which seems to be a standard fee as a few other people have told us that they paid the same.

We too want to get away from the rat race here in Britain and try to start a new life together. Hope this helps you make a decision. Good luck!

i am planning to buy in Colva or Benaulim and would be interested to know the name and address of your solicitor to set up the company. Did you go to Goa to set it up or from england ? If you have any other advise....!!

I visited Goa on the 20th of June or so. Did not have much time for house hunting. So this time, I plan to visit the place and spend a week or so looking around, before shortlisting something I'd like.

Personally, I would prefer something that's close to the beach, and am open to either a Studio or a 2-3BHK apartment. When not living in it, I'd be pleased if one could get good rentals.

Anyways, so I'm looking to take a trip sometime 2nd-3rd week of September.
If any of you need any help/advice or would like me to find something for you in Goa, feel free to pm/email me. I'll do my best to help...

Just a piece of advice...

Not more than 30 days ago, I went to Dubai and bought myself a Studio there, that I had decided upon just from Internet research and emailing some agents online. Since I did some real thorough research (Internet services being my primary business) I got a good deal for the Studio compared to what most quoted....

However, on reaching Dubai for the actual transfer, I did notice a couple of cheaper deals on even higher floors. Sheesh, I felt so let down by myself, but recovered quick enough, because there's not too much time to regret now : )
Note though, that even "in" Dubai all the ads. etc.. had rates higher that what I paid for. It's just that there were these 2 offers that were priced lower.

Lesson learnt is, that if you're 'too' worried on how much you are paying, then either take a trip yourself to Goa once you have shortlisted some property/properties OR inquire in the local market if you can get some better deals...
