Flights Mumbai to Goa

To save money on air fares, we are thinking of flying from Manchester into Mumbai, then flying onto Goa on another flight. We wondered if anybody knew how easy it was to book a flight once we land in Mumbai, rather than book beforehand and risk losing the flight if there is a delay in the first flights? (i.e. can we just turn up at the Mumbai ticket office) Or has anybody used the train to get to Goa from Mumbai? Many thanks - your help will be much appreciated. Paul

There was no problem, girls at the Jet desk were very helpful, got us on to the next flight.
There were 3 of us with all with 'special price' Jet tickets and they did their best to get seats at the same price; managed it for 2 we had to pay some extra for the 3rd ticket.
We are doing the same this time, not yet booked as this time not going directly and length of stay in Mumbai not yet decided.

We flew BA last year Bipat but not this year as we decided that if possible to avoid Mumbai and the transfer process, also because BA do not fly direct to Goa.We had to put up with all the uncertainty surrounding Kingfisher flights. Also because of all the building work going on at the airport we decided to fly direct via Doha straight into Goa with Qatar Air.

Our delayed flight was 2 years ago, but as I said Jet was so helpful compared with BA itself.
Worst journey to Goa we have ever had.
Delays on M6, lorry fell off a bridge. M1, car-carrier overturnd.
Cat was unwell, so we had to leave him with daughter who has regular vet. M10 delays on way there (air-ambulance).
(All those from road accidents apparently survived).
At departure gate, BA needed to refuel at 'last moment' spilt it on engine???? We were put in holding pen for 3 hours, until cleaned plane.
As I said Jet desk in Mumbai as always was great.
Two days into Goa stay inevitable news about cat.

My condolences.
Flying British Airways.
My condolences.
If you are so impressed with Jet (quite rightly), why not fly all the way with them, cheaper - better planes - massively better service and "in-flight"........... or do you have a reason?

As to Jet flight, I thought it the obvious choice, but OH sudden inexplicable fear that all the Indian Airlines would pack in before we went.!!!!

Thank you. 17 years old, I still feel guilty we were not with him. Bowl still in the kitchen. Along with that of his dog companion also 17 when she went. (Hope you were not being sarcastic).

, know just how you feel.Jet are probably the most consistently good airline I have flown with on the London-Bombay run.
Kuwait, yeah ok at the time
Emirates...........pretty good to excellent, but got too expensive
Gulf, OK till they took us on a magical mystery tour after lying through their teeth
Sri Lankan, ok, lovely view of Maldives, free night in hotel in Ceylon, then spoilt it all by stopping direct flights to Goa and basically telling us to s@d off for the return flight.
Alitalia, total crap, verging on disgusting, worst ever flight to Z-o-S by far from Milan onwards,
Kingfisher, compared with Jet, total rubbish, in every way. No wonder they have gone bust
Air India ...................do you really think I'm that daft?
BA, for me, sh@t on their kipper with a truly appalling flight back from USA, mechanically defective plane, openly panicking cabin crew, couldn't give a damn attitude, would only fly with them again if you got me p*ssed and superglued me to the wing.
This year it appears Turkish Airlines are cheap.............. and quite rightly so I am sure. Three best mates are flying with them in October, have already asked for specific personal effects should they not return.
Coming back to reality, Jet fly direct UK to Bombay. Any of the gulf-based airlines, including the currently popular Qatar (no U please), are all the same, even Emirates. The first leg, UK to "Gulf", fine. Nice plane, good service, drinks, good in-flight etc. Second leg .......cattle truck. Always been the same. They get away with it because 90% of the cattle are Indian lads (gulfies) returning home, and they don't care.
So fly Jet and miss out on this delight, a 100% recommendation

Actually I prefer Virgin, usually better food and films. More expensive though this time.
Used to fly Air India in the old days, they had strange concertina toilet doors; once in, difficult to get out!
There was always a fight over the vegetarian list (you had to tell them after check in). They never kept enough veg. food so always accused people wrongly, of not putting their names down.

On Jet have always found the food excellent and films (your choice of film and time with pause and rewind etc) brilliant.......
Actually I prefer Virgin

My very recent experience with Jet airways - mediocre service although punctual from London to Bombay. Baggage allowance - two suitcases. Deliberately chose Jet for the internal flight to goa although more expensive - baggage allowance - one case! BUT, they allowed me through with two cases from Bombay to Goa. But on my return, Goa Jet Air would not and made me pay excess luggage, despite my being booked on a Jet Air flight back to London! Their reasoning? That it should have been on one continuous ticket rather than on two...i intend to challenge this as it is idiotic to allow an international passenger to come in with two suitcases and then travel within India with one!
