Unhappy EROSION AT SINQUERIM BEACH

Sinquerim Beach is starting to look like Coco Beach after the last two monsoons.

Calamari, Palm Sands, Marquis, Taj have all been affected.

~The Shiroda glass house at the Marquis has collapsed leaving only the Statues. Palm and Sands have lost all coastal facing bathing and dining areas.
Mr. Kingfishers steps have been washed away. The grounds of the Taj are now exposing pipes which were buried deeply underground, their sea wall has collapsed and more rocks are falling into the sea daily. Many palm trees are lost.

Anyone mentioned the immortal words 'River Princess' yet ?
The farce surrounding the removal of that vessel epitomises the whole Goan attitude to very apparent (to everyone else) problems i.e
'don't worry it might go away'.

Lets hope it's not too much of a disaster, love the Aubergines in Yoghurt at Palm and Sands.

So called 'experts' ,from various part of the World, have suggested for sometime , that this type of shifting of sandbanks would occur because of the obstuction caused by this vessel to natural wave movements.
To me it seems this may now be coming to fruition.
It was apparent over the last few years that this part of the coastline was changing.
Why are you so certain it has nothing to do with the River Princess?

Sorry I was being sarcastic - as nothing is ever "their" fault - meaning the politicians.
Do you think the Princess would have caused the change in Coco Beach over the last three years?

The plan is to destroy Sinquerim by keeping the River Princess (RIP) there. Adjoining land will become available because it will be too expensive for locals to repair/maintain, and tower hotels as seen in Bombay will be built.

Maybe now some 'big players' e.g. Taj Hotel Group and , Vijay Malaya ,
something might get done regarding moving this eyesore and marine disaster.
As regards Coco Beach, I am no expert ,but something has caused this drift after many years.Wether it is feasible for an obstruction ,what 2 miles away, to cause sand to dissappear well round a bend is one for the boffins.
There cannot be many cases where such a large obstruction is suddenly placed in a position influencing the tidal flow and left there over such a long period.
New sea walls, harbours ,marinas etc. are built gradually and strategically, and presumably in consultation with marine engineers who can predict likely affects.

Love the word "presumably" - this is India dear boy
On a serious note the area had 8" of rain yesterday! and I thought it was bad here.
