Default The end off Goa

Hi all off you, after living 3,5 years in Goa i bought a laptop and internet connection ! My name is Ray, Belgian and my wife Jane, Norwegian.
I'm writing this in looking for help. Living for so long here in Goa, i can tell you the state is completely going down the drain !!!
So it is not only the end off Goa being Goa, but surely the end of Goa for me !
I'm tired off the politicians and the way they treat forainers, but also the people attacking them, the police and so much more....
So we have several options in mind to move out off here. It can be another state in India ( Kerala, Pondicherry ), or Chiang-Mai, or old Borneo, maybe even Papua New Guinea ?
Anybody lived, or is living there ? Can you pls give uss some info about prices compared to Goa, visa, renting houses, climate , etc.
Looking forward to read your suggestions.
Thanks, Ray & Jane

Hi there, I think you should probably bear in mind that the visa situation currently being discussed on another thread in this forum doesn't just apply to Goa it is an Indian visa so rules will be applicable for the whole of india.

Chaing Mai is great, we went a couple of years ago as we were thinking of going there after Goa and at that time you could get a nice house for around 10,000thai B per month. Properties are much better quality than Goa and the place is much cleaner, better to look for rentals advertised privately in Supermarkets and internet cafes. Cost of living was about 5% more than Goa. Didn't seem to be ripped off either, great supermarkets Tesco lotus and Carrefour. Infact Great Shopping in Chaing Mai!

Good luck

Hi, thanks for your reply. I know about the vis problem in India, but we don't have that because Jane is under medical treatment, and so, has a five year residence permit. I however have to leave every six months, but that's like a mini holliday ! How is the visa thing in Thailand ? We can prove we get officialy from Norway around 2000 US per month, and rising every year. Since we are spending all off it, there are no savings !
