Default Cost of Living In Goa

Hi All...

For those who haven't taken the plung yet (left the UK (or your home country)) and stepped off the plane and been greeted with a blast of hot air, then you might like to know how much things cost out here in the land of the sun and holy cows....

So, I have spent a while putting together a good list of prices which might help...

Do have a look if you're interested....

Not directly 'Mumbai', actually not at all, but I thought people might be interested in

Cost of Living for Goa

Big Banana Beach Shack Prices

Why Not Tashi's Restaurant in Calangute

and

Navtara Pure Veg Resturant in Mapusa

They are not the full menu's but do show a good 50 - 75% from each place....

Please have a look and let me know if there's any mistakes....

I have added Infantaria (Calangute), Ruchira (Mapusa) and The Pub (Mapusa) to the online menus. Infantaria and Ruchira is nearly their full menu (Its a long long menu!), Beer is missing off 'The Pub''s menu as I forgot to make not of the prices, will return shortly and update it (The Pub seems to be good value for drinks by the way, if you need to while away an hour (or two) while the misses finds bargains in the market (I'm really not being sexist at all - I promise!!!)

I thought I would go and try it out today.. But it's closed Thursdays...! - Oops. I went to Pink Chilly instead, the Chicken Tikka Masala was gorgeous, although they didn't have the tandoor on so didn't give me my Cheese Garlic Naan bread as ordered instead they gave me a garlic (no cheese!) chapati. I was a little miffed, I would have been fine if they had said the tandoor wasn't working, anyway, they did give me a cheese garlic chapati in the end and the meal was filling and the masala was just perfect for me.

Hi msj5,

Sorry I completely forgot about letting you know... Oops I went again today and had Chicken Vindaloo and Veg Fried Rice, good portions and enjoyed, although might have to roll around the house as I think I ate too much!

Menu will be up shortly... Loved the place, really nice looking and great prices. Thanks for the recommendation. Don't think I'll have the vindaloo again as it was a bit 'chinese-y' for me.. Still nice though, but not what I expected.

Today I am (hopefully) uploading Pink Chilli's menu.... (UPDATE: DONE

Hi John, cost of living is like it was in Goa 20 years ago. We have a nice house big garden full of fruit trees and we pay $150 (US) per month with water and electric approx $30. Beer at a local bar is 50c. food is cheap we eat at home mostly, I went shopping this morning at the local market, 1kg pork fillet$4,1kg large prawns $4, several kilos of various veg $6 so pretty good really. Tuvalu.

moved for you

I would have liked to have seen Goa 20 years ago.. Wonder what the prices were like then. I remember paying just a few thousand for an apartment, but just 7 or 8 years ago, anyone remember prices from yesteryear?
