every child in goa is having a laptop and computer, never mind they do not have electricity, or pencils. When we left Goa they were digging up the roads, saying it was for broadband
but it seems only the internet cafes have it, and that is slowband. We use our mobile phone, and will have to see if there is a better provider next month.Would be interested to know if anybody knows what Vodophone bluetooth connection is like have used one of the others before.

It would be too expensive to use UK mobile. We used Airtel it was not as slow as dial up here, but not as fast as broadband. Don't think you can get mobile broadband out there, but will let you know at the end of the month when we get there and with which provider we go with. You can call into the Airtel - Ideal shops in Panjim for info.
Does anybody know how mobile Vodophone is working? and which is the best deal.
Broadband you have to have a telephone line, and that takes TIME

Thats great to know thanks for your help. I already have tata sky so I will try them first. My son has suggested that I need 3G but not being technically minded I do not really know what he is talking about. I have bought one of those half size laptops to take out as I can put it in the safe while I am not around. Luckily my son does know what he is talking about as he works in IT and has done desk top support in the past. He is coming out on 25th Oct so if I have not got it sorted out by then he may be able to sort it for me.

3G is not yet introduced in India. TATA should work fine for your use. I guess you are not a heavy user.

Depends, I use email a lot and need to access my work sometimes but it took so long using an internet cafe last time (5 minutes or more to turn a page) that I really need a better solution.

WHEN it works & i do mean WHEN, its fantastic BUT you pay 5,000/-rs for the unit 1,800/- rental monthly 750/-rs for them to plug it in & off you go or should i say off they go. doesnt work when it rains the
Calangute tower is always down they ignore phone calls basically they are a rip off. Asked for them to come & collect unit they said they would disconnect us & only pay us 1,800/-rs. They said they wont pay anything else. The sales man is Ganesh KEEP AWAY.
