Default Road up!

Hello everyone,
I normally post on the French site, but would be most grateful for some help from here.

I travel quite a lot from Sweden to France, inevitably through Germany. On recent trips I have found that the road repairs around Cologne have become a nightmare - all along the A1 from Kamener Kreutz down to south of Cologne itself. Is there any alternative route to get round Cologne? i have thought of going to Venlo and then down to the A1 again, but am very unsure about the roads around the west of Cologne.
All tips gratefully accepted.

I can confirm the road repairs around Cologne and the A1, there are even more from Cologne to Frankfurt on the A3.

I don't think driving down to Venlo to circumvent the road repairs at Cologne is a good idea, unless you're a masochist!

I drove from Maastricht to Cologne via Aachen this morning and it was pretty fluid. It also depends on the time of day that you are travelling.

If you go round Cologne after 09:30 hours, as I did, then you should be ok.

However, I imagine it will get worse as the winter months set it......
