Living costs Munich
Hi
I may take a short term contract (3-4 months ) in Munich, I am wondering is it possible to rent short term accommodation there and how much is monthly rent for a studio/1-bed in good area? Haven’t been there myself so any suggestion is appreciated! Many thanks!

www.immobilienscout24.de will give you a general idea of the level of rents.
Short-term rents are often described as "Wohnen auf Zeit", "möbiliert" (i.e. furnished), or "(für) Monteure" (fitters, building site workers etc. to whom this accommodation is geared).
As you probably know, the pressure on accommodation is higher in Munich than in any other German city, and costs are correspondingly high.

An alternative would be to look at Augsburg which approx. a 40 min train ride away. It is a cheaper place, bit boring, but many people commute. If you can find accomodation close to a train station, it is easily doable. Just an idea.

Thanks for the reply! Other thing, what’s the tax like in Germany if I am not a resident? Thanks!

You live in Germany for no more than 6 months - You are not considered tax resident, and pay tax only on income earned in Germany (limited tax liability).
You can easily calculate taxes here. You'll probably be Steuerklasse 1 (Single)

Thanks for the all the reply.
I spoke to the potential employer, since it's going to be short term work and I won't be resident in Germany, I think it might be better if I work as freelancer and still pay tax to UK through self assessment.
Is any cons regarding going this route instead of being an employee paying German tax? I understand that I won't be covered by German health system, is it necessary to take up a private medical insurance for the duration I am there or my EHIC will do in case of emergency. Any thoughts? Many thanks!

Can't post links so need to repost.
the main issue is if you end up staying longer. You will need heath insurance. Don't get sucker ped into private health insurance. You do need to choose one best is TKK as they will respond in English.
Second issue is renting is very differen here, I found a great guide. Can't post links so google property germany and look for the shop and the free expat guide
