FHEA recognised in Germany?
Some background: I lived and worked in Germany for 14 years from the early nineties. Five and a half of those years I was a "Künstlerischer Mitarbeiter" at a Hochschule, with Beamtenstatus and all that and then an extra academic year as "Gastprofessor" at another Hochschule. My German is still pretty much fluent (my wife is German, and we still speak the language at home).
Have been back in the UK for several years where I currently work as a Senior Lecturer in HE, but looking to return to Germany next year. Some interesting job prospects on the horizon, but nothing concrete yet. Taking it one step at a time.
As I have already worked in the German system and my qualifications were accepted twenty years ago, I don't imagine any problems in this regard, but in the meantime I have acquired the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. This is recognised under the UK Professional Standards Framework and they claim that it also "serves as an internationally-recognised badge of your success".
My question is: does anyone know whether the FHEA is actually recognised in Germany?
(Traditionally, although state school teachers required Qualified Teacher Status, university lecturers did not need formal teaching qualifications to work in HE in the UK. In 1997 the Dearing Report recommended the establishment of a professional body that would define standards and accredit training - this eventually became the HEA).
Just to reiterate: I'm not asking about the validation of academic qualifications (BA, MA etc), but specifically about the FHEA which, like the PGCTHE, relates to teaching at HE level.

Re: FHEA recognised in Germany?
Hi John,
I think it's still very much the same in regards to qualifications. I've acquired the Associate status (AHEA) but no one never asked about this is Germany, I think it's just important for UK HE/FE institutions.
Best
Tina
