Default Düsseldorf

Hi all, I may well be moving to Düsseldorf in a month or two, are there any ex-pat dives where people meet up?

There's numerous Irish pubs in the Altstadt. I met my Australian other half in O'Reilly's nearly eight years ago now.

What is it with all the faux Irish pubs called "O´Reilly´s?" Every town you go to there is at least two O´Reilly´s. If O´Reilly was a real person he would be the greatest pub owner in the entire known universe. Anyway if I do make it to Düsseldorf I´ll be sure to `take a drink`at O´Reilly´s

I agree with BIP and Slammer. You can't go wrong in the Altstadt. Plenty of good restaurants there as well. I quite like Bavarian style one near the tram stop that serves heaps of roast pork on a mountain of sauerkraut, maybe with a litre of beer to wash it all down. There's a Maredo (steakhouse chain) as well.

The Irish pubs have a lot of English-speaking Germans for clientele.

Actually there are, at least one that I know of, but most German themed events are like a Oktoberfest thingy.
