Hi all,
first time on the forum, here is my question which i don´t seem to find an answer, how do i go around about claiming unemployment in Germany?
I´m half german half english, i grew up in many places and speak a couple of languages, but never lived in Germany before neither speak a lot of the language, i´m a german national, everytime i wanna renew my passport i have to go to the german embassy to do so,

i wanna spend between 6 to 9months in Köln, for learning a bit of the language and changing the scenary for a while
Is it possible for me to claim unemployment while I am there to keep me going úntil i find something else..?

Unemployment benefit is not a holiday fund. You have to have worked in Germany before you qualify for unemployment benefit. I suggest you go to an employment exchange in Köln, get a job of some sort- my nephew went to an agency in Munich and got a job with a removal company. In other places he worked in restaurants. Then see from there.

thanx a lot, i´ll try that out, can you name some agencies I can try ?
even though i was born there my german is not that good(basics)
I definetly would like to spend some time in Köln,
