Its always nice to get some inside information and after reading many posts on this site, everyone seems to be so very helpful and full of advise.
Good luck with your move.

Here's shots we took in Berlin on our last trip there, I loved it there and the people were very friendly

I liked your photos but you got it wrong with the "soviet victory monument", the monument you show in the photos is the "Siegessaule" to commemorate victories by Prussia.

Close, but no cigar then

I seem to remember I got the name of the monument from the tour bus tape

Yes, it's a bit further up the road.

Ah! I miss it too. I have deep ties with Berlin as my mother grew up there and studied medicine there too. Considering moving there permanently one day. Has anyone ever done this before?
If it's true what you say about foreigners finding it easier then I might well go! haha x

British Student.... Hope you will be happy in Berlin. I would love to live there, even if only for a month or two just so that I could visit all the places I have never seen before I left to work in London in 1960 and than onwards to Canada in 1964. Do you have a favourite area in Berlin ? I would never have immigrated in the first place had my life not been that of a Kriegskind. Best of British Luck.
