Question Any English speaking mums of toddlers in Munich?....

We are just about to move to Munich with our 2 1/2 year old boy. Wondered if there were any mums out there in Munich who would like to meet up for a coffee and get me introduced to the local mums scene!

We will be there from April 1st

We are just outside Munich, in Aying (on the S6 local train line)... although my son is rather older, nearly 8.
There used to be an English-speaking mothers and toddlers group at the Familienzentrum in Haar (one of the outer suburbs); I'm not sure if it still exists. Otherwise, try your local Volkshochschule or ask at your local kindergarten

Thanks for this advice; it will all be a lot easier once I'm there! I think I should stop panicking about getting absolutely everything sorted out before we get there... we took a long weekend trip there and found it to be so child friendly with, seemingly, lots to do for kids... so I'm quite looking forward to the experience. Will contact you when we get there and get settled in; Vx

Oh yes, there really is LOADS for kids to do...

My son's favourite places, also great for smaller kids:

http://www.tierpark-hellabrunn.de/

http://www.deutsches-museum.de/

... but you could do something different every weekend for a year

Once you are settled in your new home and have registered your children at a play group, you will meet lots of mums. Put an advert in a local paper , all areas have them, to look for English speaking mums. It will be good for your children to also mix with German children, if you are planning to spend any time here. Good luck with your move and post on here to let us know when you have arrived.

A magazine that has addresses of all sorts of English speaking groups, including play groups, is called Munich Found. You can also look at it online, once in, click on Find it. It comes up with lists. Its quite a good magazine, in English with lists of places of interest etc.

London Mum - check out Toytown Germany's website. There is a once a week meeting of english speaking expat Mums downtown Munich. Good Luck!

AngloMum - why did I never meet you? I have just moved back to the UK after having spent 12 years in Munich - the last nearly 5 were in Grosshelfendorf!

OMG I don't believe it! And there was me lamenting the lack of Brits close by I've been in Aying since 2000, for heaven's sake! :curse:
