Re: What do you miss from the UK?
gawd, that takes me back more years than I care to remember. last time I went to see the lights was 21 years ago - had a trip back from South Africa that coincided with them being on and took our eldest to see them - she was only 2 at the time. Had a great time. I still have some family in Brum but don't get to visit as often as I'd like and haven't been into the city centre for ages. Doubt if I'd recognise it now. Guess there could be worse places to live and I'm sure you would miss it if you left. I've just never had time too My OH who is also from there, swears the only reason he became a marine biologist was because it was the only job he could think of that would keep him from ever returning there - how right he was
Sorry I've taken a while to reply; I've just been in Ireland for the weekend for a wedding and it's so depressing to get back here. I know what your husband means though.
I think you don't quite realise how bad it is, until you see just how nice other places are
I'm exhausted now though after my weekend of guiness and irish dancing so I'm off to get much needed sleep!
Take care,
Night all!

We all have different opinions depending on where we lived I guess. I worked in it for nearly 30 years. Things dont remain the same I guess, so its not possible to dwell in the past I still think its a great city

I don't know about having a Normandy meet-up, I think we'd better look at having one in Brum - Frippouille can be host

Mmm, I wonder why - I remember when I moved to Oxford to start my nursing - after the first day there I didn't open my mouth again for over a month as I was so embarrased by my Brummie accent Had to learn to tone it down so people could understand what I was on about. Thankfully I've always been able to mimic accents quite well - you should hear my dorf Afrikaner one. Fine tuning a Canadian one at the moment so I can communicate with Novocastrian at the meet up - eh
