If you walk pigeon toed on sheet ice / sheet ice covered by snow, you as less likely to fall over.

I only remembered this advice when I took a curve too fast in my wellies - Now I have a purple patch on my derriere - they're best avoided - the purple patches that is.

It works for pigeons, I prefer ice grips.
