Hi, I know I have asked this before, but just trying to get up to date info. I plan to change my UK paper driving licence for a French photo licence.I know I don't have to do this, but we plan to travel to the USA and hire a car and I think a UK paper licence, which is falling apart, with a UK address from someone giving a French address will cause to many problems.So I emailed the prefecture and they emailed back saying I needed 2 copies of bills,passport,etc. I have also recently obtained from the DVLA a paper, confirmation of GB driving licence details.
Has anybody done this recently,anything I have missed and can I do this online.

Good question, but I don't believe it's possible to complete online.

This is a list of all the docs required:-
- Formulaire cerfa n°14879*01 de demande d'échange de permis
- Formulaire 06 cerfa n°14948*01 imprimé en couleur
- 2 copies couleur recto-verso de votre permis et, si besoin, sa traduction officielle.
- 1 attestation récente de vos droits � conduire établie par l'État de délivrance de votre permis mentionnant l'origine, l'étendue et la validité de vos droits � conduire et, si besoin, sa traduction officielle.
- 1 copie d'un justificatif de domicile.
- 2 photos.
- 1 enveloppe affranchie libellée � vos nom et adresse éventuellement (certaines préfectures le demandent).

Anyway thanks for the timely reminder, as I've just checked my French licence which is in a disastrous state of disrepair (issued in 1976), which I will now get renewed within the next week or two.
(Great pity I won't be able to retain the original, still intact, very young-looking photo still on the licence).

You got me worried, and I checked my pink French licence, to confirm the "Permanent" stamped after "valable jusqu'au". Which means it doesn't need renewing....
Btw I obtained it in 1975 upon presentation of my British Licence, so I beat you by a year!!
