Travelling back from Spain to the UK by car

We are near Cadiz and want to travel back to Roscoff but staying mainly in France and making a holiday of it. Would like the most attractive and interesting route and if anybody knows of dog friendly hotels along the way it would be appreciated.

Hi, only just found this site (and your post) so you may have already started your journey back home by now, I travelled from England to North West Spain and stayed in some lovely places in France, first of all Chartres, then down to Ile de Re, an island just of the coast by La Rochelle, then down to Saint Emilion and then across to Spain.
As it was my first time driving abroad I wanted to avoid the busiest motorways and the route I took went through some beautiful countryside with plenty of interesting places to visit if I'd had more time. Hope this is of some help. Maria

Hi We drove from France to Cadiz and back again with our 3 dogs and 2 cats, we went a longer way as we have an apartment on the spanish border so stayed there the first night, second stop was Alicante in a log cabin on a campsite, then the same again in Granada.Do a mappy first to plan your route, then do a google for pet friendly hotels, there are loads of them around.
