Not so nice..:( Roofs have started flying here. We went out in the car this morning I kept having to pull bits of wood out under it.

It's windy here, 60/70 kms SW of you but we are up a big hill:lol: Lots of Avalanche warnings as well.

Bon courage!:)

Two smallish cyprus trees down in our garden - didn't hit anything. Accross the roas, neighbour's large cyprus fell and blocked the main entrance of his neighbour who happens to be a nurse! 10 minutes later the pompiers were there and 15 minutes after that, the way was cleared, all the rubbish taken! Bravo.

Carcassonne - no shops allowed to open in town all day.
Electricity down 3 times today0. two short periods this morning and this afternoon from about 2pm. We were just lighting all the candles when it came back again. With 3 cats sheltering in the living room and azll the candles, we just need a pentagon drawn on the floor... er!!!

P.S. to Ka Ora! - how come the 09 isn't included in the Alerte Rouge?

Im not sure, there is not a road sign standing in the department. Guess I don't have to stop any more. :lol:Most big towns still have electric. As I said ours has been out since 9 this morning. Home life is now a little like the return ride on Apollo 13, With Car batteries and Inverters measuring the allowed amperage load on them. To late to run the Emergency Generator and the heating is off, it's wood but needs eleccy to run the pump oops.

It would be nice if it came on again even if for a couple of mins.....

For what it's worth, it's calmed down noticeably here. I'll have to get the dog kennel from the pool tomorrow but frankly that sounds like small fry to what others are having...

all is calm here now; but many roofs with tiles off on the estate, wheely bins everywhere and bits of trees
apparently winds reached 120km/hr

Re: Storm Warning for SW

Well, after a day of relentless heavy rain the river is higher than ever. The cats are yeowling at me asking me to put their garden right. Er yes....
OH over at Juillac has been flooded again and had his veranda collapse with high winds. They were also forbidden to drive anywhere. Local weather reports were really good. We were in an Orange area and they forecast high winds between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. and the winds dropped almost on the dot of four. Roads have been blocked here with floods or fallen trees. Tonight will be the telling time for me as the river water works its way downstream and yes, it's been very scary. Forecast for tomorrow is no high winds but more rain. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Hope you're all over the worst of it now. We could have done without this couldn't we. Much loving kindness to all.

Stay safe guys, sounds like you are really going through it - its even made the news in Queensland, so it must be serious. Sounds more like our cyclone weather than something you expect in France and Spain, though I do remember the UK's "hurricane" in 1987 which was similar.

Re: Storm Warning for SW

Electricity went off yesterday at 16h00 and came back this morning at 9h30 (north of the Hérault). Dinner by candle-light (luckily we've got Butane gas for cooking), but woodfire not sufficient to heat sitting room (no circulator for radiators...), and candle-light not good for reading, so early to bed.
No real damage here, but things might be different in the valley. We'll find out, if and when the baker comes.....
Bonne chance to all!:)

Well life is back to normal here today, The suns out not a cloud in the sky and the Air is still. Plus on an even better note the electric came back on this morning at about 10. The house has warmed up again.

I was very worried about my parents, tried ringing yesterday and realised that the phone lines must be down....

My sister who lives with them is currently in England so I knew they were on their own, I also started to worry that if anything happened to them would anyone know how to contact us?

I have just spoken to my parents who are south of Toulouse, power and phones and water went down yesterday, power back on this morning, my phone call made them realise that the phone was back on, they still have no water, just glad they are ok.
