In my planning I have come up against a recurring question.
Storage.
My plan was to put all unnecessary bits from my junked up house into storage and then do my house up.
Find somewhere in Charente or Dordogne to rent while I meander around SW France to find exactly where I want to live (location ad property)
In the mean time I would rent my UK house out.
Once I 'm happy where I want to live in France I put UK property on the market and sell it.
I'm then a cash buyer for France.
That's the idea but storage is an issue. I don't fancy paying out a fortune to have my household contents stored for anything up to a year. Also I need the flexibility to be able to top-up the content of the storage from most of my junk to all of my household stuff.
I've done a bit of research about storage in the UK and it is just - well horrendous prices.
Anyone got some ideas about a viable storage option in France?

I'm in pretty much the same situation and would be interested in any tips. For what it's worth, I checked out self-storage places in the UK and the prices (plus insurance) were certainly on the high side. The removals firm I'll be using came in with a much lower storage cost and I'd planned to keep my stuff with them in the meantime. But it would make more sense to store it in France if the price is right.

One thing I did think of was a business opportunity for someone already living in France.
Someone who has a large barn in decent condition could rent out space to Brits wanting to move. I just thought that would be a nice little earner for someone. Lubbly Jubbly
