Default Renting near Toulouse

We are a family of four looking for a rental property near Toulouse/Castelnaudary. This is part of a permanent moving to establish a business so will not have jobs immediately but do have savings.

Are there any good tips on how we may navigate this, are there ways of getting private rentals? Is there anyone that supports this kind of relocation.

I would start with P.A.P or Le Bon Coin.

As Tweedpipe says. Without jobs you'd likely be wasting your time with traditional rental agencies. One of the bits of paperwork a professional landlord will always ask for is a permanent job contract, because without it you won't be covered by his landlord insurance. Rental law is very different in France from the UK, the law is weighted heavily towards the tenant and makes it very hard to evict, so pro landlords need their insurance. If you don't have all the paperwork, avoid the pros.

As said. French landlords using Agents require proof of income (usually 3-4 times the rent) in the form of payslips, pensions, ... Savings in the bank don't count.
You'll need "justification of domicile" (i.e. genuine rental receipts, utility bills) when enrolling your children in school and if they're in Maternelle/Primaire, the Mairie will allocate the schools nearest your domicile. If you've already decided on a school, you must find a rental in the catchment area.... If your children are older than about 10-11 and don't speak French, you need to know about the pitfalls (see the "Schooling" thread in the Read Me FAQs above)...
If you're renting, your landlord must give you written permission for you to set up a business in his/her premises.
As you'll be "inactifs" at the beginning, you must take out private healthcare insurance from Day 1, until your business is set up.
So many aspects to think about, in addition to the renting question!

Just to add - in the Intro thread I think you mentioned March 2019 as a deadline due to brexit. However I see that the EU is aiming to make continued free movement of people one of the conditions for the transitional period, assuming there is one. So don't rush into it all for the sake of meeting a deadline that's only a deadline in tory brains (or what passes for tory brains) - setting up a business in France is not a thing to be done in haste if you're a total newbie, there's a lot to learn and understand and some important business decisions to be made before you even start.

We have been doing quite a bit of research on many aspects of this move, and there are as you say many elements!! Hence looking at renting but this is our first challenge!,,

Is there any options around finding private rentals.

As Tweedie said. Look on pap.fr and leboncoin and avoid any ads that say Pro on them.
https://www.pap.fr/annonce/locations-toulouse-31-g43612
https://www.leboncoin.fr/locations/o...ulouse%2031000

There are many other sites as well but most rentals find their way onto those two.
