Petrol
Time for another thread from me!
I tend to walk anywhere if it’s less than about 2 miles and not raining - otherwise it’s the bus - unless I’m grocery shopping in which case I take the car out of the garage.
lucky for me I don’t fill up with petrol very often because the 2 closest garages were charging £1.69 and £1.72 a litre for 95 unleaded! Yikes!
We’re about to head for Dordogne and will obviously need to fill up a few times. We always avoid (as in UK) motorway services for petrol but on my last trip I was horrified to find some supermarkets (LeClec in Orleans for example) were charging just as much.
it’s unavoidable but I wonder what the situation is currently re petrol prices and are big supermarkets best option still?

Re: Petrol
Cyrian, give it a couple more years and you might be close to the real cost.
Bazzer70 - unfortunately it's pricey here. Just lately it's typically been a little more than the UK, and my local supermarket prices are one of the cheapest I've found (comparing to local departments and regions I've been to). I'm on diesel, which has nearly always been considerably cheaper than petrol, then we went through a spell where it was more expensive, now it's back down a bit. Remember the French government have taken off 15 cents from the price already - I'm not sure if that will continue past summer, but if not, we might see a significant leap again.
I'm off now to fill up my car, and I'm taking a large jerry can for my ride on mower - for the moment it's well below the 2 euro barrier that it easily surpassed fairly recently.
