Parking in Calais

Hello,
I am travelling via Le Shuttle this weekend, then hiring a car. I tried asking this question with Enterprise in Calais but my lack of French got me nowhere. I want to hire a car with Enterprise and park my car there. Is this possible? If not, does anyone know of long stay ( 48rs) near Le Shuttle or the ferry port?
I am wondering if I can use the ferry port carpark or is that purely for ferry passengers only.
Thank you.

Bit confused about what you are doing exactly. Are you travelling from Folkestone to Calais in your own car, and then hiring a car in France? I think there is an Enterprise car hire place at the ferry terminal so you can drive there in your car, and if Enterprise don't offer customer parking there is parking near the ferry terminal. https://www.portboulognecalais.fr/en...uvres-crossing - click on Car Parks

Yes it is confusing. Our car is old, we don't want to risk travelling far in France, hence why we want to rent one. Can anyone park at the ferry terminal? I'm just concerned it is for ferry passengers only.

From what I recall from a quick glance, I think it said there ois one car park for ferry passengers only, and two paid parkings, one that is presumably meant for short stay because the long stay prices looked astronomical, and one that is presumably meant for long stay that struck me as very reasonable, could have been 7€ a day.

That's the impression I got from the link, but I wanted to be doubly sure that is correct. I just don't want to turn up and have no where to park.

Well you could always ring Calais tourist office if they're open in October, I'm sure they'll speak English and know the answer. But I don't think you'll have a problem.

Would it not be more straightforward to hire a car from near your home rather than drive to the terminal, cross, look for somewhere to park and hiring a car in France?Probably cheaper too if you use one of the comparison sites Also be aware that the ferry port is the opposite end of Calais to the Shuttle

Listen very carefully - that would have been our preferred option but we couldn't get a registration number to make the le shuttle booking. Thankfully it hasn't worked out more expensive. Thank you, yes noted about it being at the opposite end.

Okay but just two points You can actually book on Eurotunnel without entering a Reg no but more importantly have you considered the immigrant situation? An unattended brit car is going to be a magnet for people looking to cross the channel especially now the weather is worsening Make sure that you search your car really thoroughly before returningeven the places where you think people could not get Be aware that there are large fines if an immigrant is found in your car even if you have no knowledge of their presence so take care

I have no experience of renting a car in France, but my experience in the US is that rental companies will usually let you park somewhere out of the way, so long as they have enough room, which may mean that you are directed to park in a far corner of their premises.

If I was an immigrant, I don't think I would secrete myself in a UK car parked in a long stay car park, specially (no disrespect to the OP) an elderly one. It might be parked up for weeks. It might even be abandoned.
But LVC is right, you need to check.
I used to work on a holiday camp near Calais, our guests were school groups who came over from the UK in their own coaches and they used to go on out on day trips while they were staying. One group went off on a trip to Euro Disney in Paris one rainy day and as they were sailing down the motorway the kids on the back seat heard banging coming from underneath. The driver stopped and looked under the coach and there was this poor kid scared out of his wits, frozen half to death, covered with mud from the road and hanging on for dear life. He'd assumed that a UK coach parked overnight at a campsite near Calais must be going back to the UK.

UPDATE.
My trip to France was very successful. We went to view a rental property and we hope to sign the tenancy in 2 weeks.
The Eurotunnel crossing was fantastic. That was the first time we had used it. Very efficient and most importantly quick.
Enterprise car hire showed us where we could park in the port and it was FREE. It looked safe and secure with many other British cars parked there. The beauty of having an old car is you don't really have to worry about it being stolen or damaged.
We checked our boot and under the car, there were no stowaways :-)

I know haha Other than not being able to go out for a run, I am not too fussed.
Inxent. I was initially planning on moving to either Upper or Lower Normandy but due to this year's travel restrictions I found that near Calais would be a safer / easier option. Yes now lots of planning to do :-)
