If, like me, you are technically challenged when it comes to problems with the Orange livebox I've found that most towns have an Orange agent in them. Mine is actually a bookshop owner but he is an accredited Orange agent. He charged me 50 euros to come to my house and fix the system up when I arrived two years ago. I've had one problem since which he correctly diagnosed as a cable problem and gave me a new one for 5 euros and its working fine now. I'd advise you to ask around in your local town, at the TV or computer shop or your local library , ask any of your neighbours who have Orange; someone will know and he might even have an ad in your local telephone book!

Orange will send a engineer to your house for nothing if you get a nice customer service agent. 9 times out of 10 unplugging it from the mains and rebooting it will sort it.

Didn't know this board was so knowlegeable about such matters.
I have a question
I have an orange livebox which other people with their own WiFi can log into. However the log-in details are a 26 digit number that is on the bottom of the livebox.
I am told it is possible to replace this long number with a shorter code but nobody seems to know how.
Any ideas?

I have my two passwords sticked on the front of the screen. It marks that it should be in lower case. This is for the Orange Livebox.

Actually, I have this put into my Net Gear router DG834Gv3.

I have put caps previously and I just had a bunch of misery.

They should only be able to log into it if you give them the WEP Key, and if it's been created as a 'public' network. The WEP Key is that 26 digit alpha numeric number that acts as a 'password' in effect. If you are a 'private' network, and don't give out the WEP Key, then they can't access your ADSL connection.

All of these settings (I believe) can be changed/configured from within the set up screen within the Orange Livebox system, just as I can with the AliceADSL system.

Re: Orange/Livebox/Internet

Orange Live box supports Wep or WPA Encryption, I would however suggest if you are going to let Guests have Wifi access you get a slightly more advanced router to perform the task and Disable wifi on the Livebox. It takes very little time to hack a Livebox offering Wifi services if it is trying to deal with more than one user via Wifi and Cat 45 it will fall on it's arse a lot or just multiple Wifi users. Plus the range is very poor.

Just a Good Wireless Router, Only the mains plug will be wrong so Go to boots as well for a travel adapter, Personally I would recommend a Apple Extreme Airport.
