Default Ombrosa - Where to live

Hi,
We are a retired couple with very young kids, actively considering a move to France and would request some advice.
We were looking to put our kids in a bilingual school and Ombrosa appears to tick all boxes.
Having lived in London for too long I clamour for large housing in a nice town/village outside Lyon that isn't far from school. Our rental budget is upto 3000 euros a month and we would like a decently sized house with a garden and pool.
Wonder as to which areas are good for this and are not within a 10-15 km / 30 minutes school commute.
Thanx Ilya

We live 50 mins from Lyon. If you are wanting international schools you really need to be in Lyon to have any chance of an easier commute. We have a few friends with kids in schools in Lyon and they are quite tied. We have friends near us in Chambery who has children who are very happy in schools near Chambery but their children are 6 years of age and younger. Personally we have found that many people start off in Lyon but then move out to the East to be nearer the skiing, lakes and mountains. You could try Cremieu but you will still have quite a commute if you really want to be in Lyon. Is a popular area for commuting but personally of I had kids I would want to be a lot closer to Lyon or Chambery. We are not fans of Lyon but there are some lovely areas to live such as Mont d'Or. Good luck
